Re: 4.8 expert required..
Tbh asking any mechanic about an engine noise without them hearing it will result in them saying that - no one wants to commit to saying what it is in case they are wrong and then get the blame as you have brought it. Also that ones been for sale for ages in various different places and they didnt ...

Re: 4.8 expert required..
Depends how confident you are on your ability to be 100% that its top end and at the back.
You would need to narrow it down to inlet or exhaust side - id imagine it inlet side tbh
What the rough location of it as ive looked a quite a few this year

Re: Heater/blower question
You might need a reconditioner more than a charger if its been flat more than once

Re: Bmw x5 4.6is rough misfire
Your mechanic sounds like he does not know whats wrong with it so is having a guess at your expense ! Like others have said you need someone who knows what they are doing not a guess / parts cannon  Did you buy it knowing about the misfire ? Maybe the previous owner kbew it would be an ...

Re: 220,000 mile 4.8
On a brighter note though there is a tidy 4.4 up the road, lots of history and friend of a friend.
Not a 4.8 though
Anyone reckon that all the arches and wheels are out there for sale these days or just wait on a 4.8 ?

Re: 220,000 mile 4.8
If it did get to negotiations I dont think the owner will go below £3800 in all honesty. From what else is about thats roughly £1200 - £1600 cheaper than the rest so almost a third off. Main concern if resale which i dont think it would so id have to break it and have no idea what they break for tbh ...

220,000 mile 4.8
Thoughts on this as I'm tempted - heart says everything has been replaced by now but head says it's going to be a money pit
Lots of service stamps but not alot of reciepts.
Nice clean MOTs
Hmmmmmm
Maybe I should just wait for a normal 4.8

Re: My PDC repair
Going by that code you need to check the wires and sensor at the rear left.
The other 3 seem to be ok so it cant be something that they all share or they would all be faulty.
Swapping a different sensor to the rear left would eliminate the sensor
