Re: What's your money on?

Hi, (again :) ) You're more than able to do this as stated by others having done the Swirl flaps on an E39. Only advice would be to take the car for a run and get it nice and warm, then go for it. A hot engine will help with glow plug removal but be careful you don't get burnt on hot metal objects ...

Re: fault codes weak cranking

Hi, mine has a code for all 6 glow plugs and starts fine, think you have another problem. Planning on changing the glow plug controller unless all 6 are actually faulty.

Re: Brakes beyond a joke now

If the electronic brake force distribution error is showing in DIS, its nothing to worry about. I've has my E53 for 3 years and not been able to clear this code but it doesn't affect the way the car stops. What problems are you experiencing, when I replaced the rear brake pipes last year, everything ...

Re: "INTERMITTENT" check brake lining message

I had this problem too and changed both sensors wires, they're cheap enough from Euro car parts and since then no more problems.

Replacing the Steering Angle Sensor

Replacing the Steering angle sensor (SAS) The following worked for me but use this guide at your own risk This module is referred to as LEW in my version of DIS and LWS in NCS Replacement of the above component became necessary after regular illumination of the Amber DSC light on the instrument ...

Re: Flat Battery - yet another electrical issue...GOD HATES ME

As I said in my earlier reply, now mine is sorted, it only draws 20mA when in sleep mode!. You're going to have to pull fuses until the circuit responsible for the excessive draw is identified.

Good luck,

Mark

Re: Flat Battery - yet another electrical issue...GOD HATES ME

According to DIS, an X5 shouldn't be drawing any more than 40mA after 16mins, if yours is 440mA, that's a major draw and way above spec!

Re: X5 - like a greenhouse - moisture

My 630i had leaking rubber seals as well as a detached door membrane. The only way to sort it properly was to get the carpet out, it can hold literally pints of water before its wet on the surface due to the absorbent sound proofing foam on the back. With the carpet out, it’s a lot easier to see w ...

Re: Newbie Just bought e53 2004 3.0d PLEASE HELP

Hi and welcome, Sorry to hear about your woes on a new purchase as these things can give sour taste as I know too well! However, as previously stated some of this could be down to the battery as the vehicle may have been sat for a while. This needs checking first and then all codes should be deleted ...

A/C pusher fan

I’ve owned my E53 3.0D sport for about 8 months now and have picked up a ton of info from this forum and thought it was time to put something back in. Since owning it I’ve gradually gone through and sorted all the faults but the last one was for the A/C pusher fan, it stopped working in the summer, a ...
