Re: fuel filter 3.0d

On my 2003 X5 the diesel fuel filter is nicely on top of the engine beside the webatso heater. Just changed it a couple of weeks ago as part of service...

Re: Who are OEM producers for filters?

Well a quick update: I went to GSF and picked up the filters and did the service this weekend. As it happens the last service I did was with genuine BMW parts and when I took the air filter off it had the bmw logo and also the Mann logo, so that's the original question answered. As for the oil ...

Cleaning vortex style engine breather?

Well I saw this mentioned a few times here i.e. people wondering if there was any maintenance required on the newer vortex style engine breathers? Well as I was servicing my X this weekend (air, oil, fuel & cabin filters + oil) I decided to have a look at the state of the new vortex breather I fitted ...

Re: Who are OEM producers for filters?

Thanks for the replies folks.. Well after a little digging around it looks like I can get a BMW service pack from a $tealer in the UK for 120 euros including delivery. It's actually cheaper for me to buy parts from a $tealer in the UK and ship it to Ireland than it is to go into my local $tealer ...

Who are OEM producers for filters?

Hi,

I'm going to be servicing my E53 3.0D at some point in March (weather permitting) and I was wondering if anyone knows who makes the oem air, oil, pollen and fuel filters for BMW? Mahle, Mann, Hengst?

Anyone know for sure?

Cheers,

~Shaun.

Re: What make are the oem brake pads?

Thanks for the replies. Don't have ECP here but do have GSF. Haven't had the front wheels off in a while to check but pretty sure the inside pads are pretty much knackered, will replace at the weekend and check the condition of the wear sensor too, reckon it should be lighting up at this point ...

What make are the oem brake pads?

Hi,

I have a pre facelift E53 and was wondering who make the oem brake pads?

I need to change my front pads for the first time soon.
Also, do the pads come with a new sensor or do I need to get them separately?

Cheers,

~Shaun.

Re: hankook vs toyo proxes.

Hi,

After much research and searching around, I put a set of Hankook Ventus (295/45/20) on my E53 a few months ago and so far I have been very happy with them in the wet and dry.... hopefully I wont need to snow test them this year!! :)

Re: Ebay light clusters... any good?

Thanks for the replies guys...

It's the passenger side rear light cluster (body not tailgate) It has the clear indicator glass.

Ideally I'd like to get a new unit, just want to know if anyone has experience with non oem ones, do they look and function just as well as the oem ones?

Ebay light clusters... any good?

Hi, My sister in law backed my X5 into her neighbours jeep and as a result I'm gonna need to get a new rear light cluster. Has anyone got any experience with non oem clusters? Would ideally like to try and keep the cost down for her if there is no real decrease in quality? Saw this on ebay: http ...

Re: cleaned the egr

Thinking about doing this as part of my next service (swapped the breather for newer vortex one last service).

Has anyone done a write-up on cleaning EGR that I could reference or do I just have to blindly start ripping stuff apart? :)

Cheers,

Re: PDC confirmation required please

Hi, If you want to confirm the part numbers then get the last 7 digits of your VIN and go to http://www.realoem.com and enter the VIN info where it says Serial number. Then hit 'Browse Parts' and navigate to 'Distance Systems, Cruise control', you should then be able to confirm the part numbers for ...

Re: DIY Replacing front suspension parts

Update: Well I had hoped to check out the anti-roll bar drop links over the weekend, but unlike most of you on this forum from the UK, us poor folk here in Ireland could only look jealously at the weather you were having.... but we kept ourselves busy loading animals two by two into a big boat ...
