E53 X5 Facelift Grills
When I owned a low mileage E53 I replaced the standard black and chrome grills with silver. I've just found the original black and chrome set in the attic. One side of the front grills seems to have no broken tab and the other has one. The two top sections of the bonnet grills have no tab missing ...

Re: Rear brake disc and pad change
I always buy original parts from Cotswold BMW. Speak to Phil Ennis. Good prices and great service. My car is under warranty so genuine parts are a must. I've not used the cheap Brembo but think they are generally pretty cheap parts under the Brembo brand which people associate with high performance ...

Re: Rear brake disc and pad change
Corrosion between hub and discs and not much space to swing a hammer to tap them loose was the issue and I wasn't sure how to get it to stay in neutral so couldn't rotate and tap. I always torque bolts up correctly if I can get the settings which I usually can. I also put an even light smear of ...

Re: Rear brake disc and pad change
So I did the job. I ended up buying an adapter for my caliper wind back tool for £15 just in case. Carly does release the EPB so I guess I could have just used a spreader but I ended up using the wind back tool anyway. The hardest part was getting the discs off (as usual) and, as I don't have a ...

Re: Rear brake disc and pad change
(Talking to myself here - lol). I think where people have removed the actuators they are effectively following the 'emergency release' instructions in the manual whereby you can remove the actuators then wind back the pistons (using a T45 driver I think) by turning clockwise (from the back) but if ...

Re: Rear brake disc and pad change
Think I might have found it on https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f25-x3-xdrive35d-sav_201511/repair-manuals/34-brakes/34-21-rear-wheel-brakes/ Very useful information about tightening torque, lubrication and general procedures but I'm still not clear about the electronic brake actuator. I don't ...

Rear brake disc and pad change
I'm thinking of changing the rear pads and may well change the discs at the same time. I've spend a bit of time searching online but haven't managed to find the answers to my questions so thought I'd ask on here. If you know the answers or can direct me to where I can find them I'd be very grateful ...

Re: Deactivate auto start-stop (and coding via foxwell)
It's really easy with carly bmw and the bluetooth dongle but I was an early subscriber so continue to get quite a lot free once I've paid for the dongle. If you can find someone local they might do it for you. It is likely to get picked up by BMW when you take it in for a service. When mine last ...

Re: Tyres
After a successful wheel warranty claim I have four new wheels and decided to go for Pirelli P Zero tyres which are being supplied by Camskill and fitted by Ninemeister on Tuesday as they're doing the wheel alignment at the same time. I found it hard deciphering the slightly different tyres ...

Re: Tyres
Reviews and choices drive me mad. It seems there are original P Zero (runflats) and new P Zero (runflats) with the newer ones having a PZ4 designation. Searching for reviews about the newer ones, there are reports of tramlining but how reliable those reviews are I don't know. So I was thinking maybe ...

Re: Tyres
Yes, they are star marked I'm looking at. I can't remember the last time I didn't buy Michelin but on the E53 that was partly because that's what it came with and with other cars I've bought Super Sports etc which were great. This has Pirellis on and they do seem good so it got me thinking. I've no ...

I'm hopefully about to receive four new wheels under warranty and as there's not a lot of life left in the rear tyres I'm thinking of changing all four and having the alignment done. Mine is a 35d with 19" 245 front, 275 rear with Pirelli P Zeros runflats currently fitted. Looking at the efficiency ...

Re: Rare 18" BMW E53 X5 Style 99 Winter Wheel & Tyre Set
Price reduced to £549 and I shall be travelling to South London quite frequently over the coming months so a meet or drop off might be possible.
