Re: Stumped with Bluetooth retrofit

Did you install it into an X5 with Nav & DSP?

Re: Hi from Windy

Just nipped outside to grab something from the car, and the bloke from the office downstairs has parked in front of mine. In his E70.

My wheels are bigger though :poke:

Re: Hi from Windy

Hey AW8 — yeah, I'm floating between the 2 forums to see which is best  I nearly bought another Cayman a few months back (instead of the E36 & X5) as they are lovely cars, but this way I get the best of both worlds! 535dboy — yup, still got the E36. I'm currently stripping more bits from it ...

Re: Aux-in installation problem

Cheers Sanj. I think mine's the early version that doesn't have any wiring for the aux in — I traced the loom as far back as I could and there was nothing there. I tried the rear aux-in when I got it but the sound was awful. And it only works through the TV, not as a true aux-in selected via the HU ...
Depending on which parrot you have it uses it's own built in amplifier for mp3 playback
So it plays through the Parrot unit itself? Through a built-in speaker?

Re: Just taken delivery of a 50i

Ah, I remember that Aston/Poker thing doing the rounds of all the forums... seem to recall the Aston driver being 'in the wrong' according to all the keyboard warriors. Though in fairness a few people who were there on the day did say it was driven rather poorly. I'm very tempted to ask who sorted ...

Re: Aux-in installation problem

Cheers mate. Yeah, had it conformed somewhere else that my car's too early. Damm.

It has the 16:9 and a Mk4 DVD in the boot so it may have been upgraded at some point.

I'm guessing this scuppers me being able to use the MP3-player part of a Parrot phone kit?

Aux-in installation problem

I had planned to follow this guide to add an aux-in to my 3.0D Sport (build date 07/2001, with Nav & DSP) however I seem to have an issue. This part of the install, which details "... you can attach the other end to the spare connector on the back of the OBM unit. The module itself will plug into ...

Re: Hi from Windy

Yeah, I loved it too, but a few fiddles by my Porsche dealer resulted in me eventually returning it, then I test-drove the E46 M3 while I was looking for another one and bought that instead. Worked out ok in the end as I gave £40k for the Cayman, and they were shifting for mid-£20k about 18 months ...

Re: new x3 test drive booked

Yeah, I was happy with my black diesel E53 until we moved to our new office and now I have to park it next to the MD of the business downstairs... who drives a black diesel E70 :headbang:

Looks 'meatier' as well as larger.

Re: Potential owner. Couple of Q's

I'm curious about all of these myself. Heard the horror stories of swirl flaps, though not of turbos and auto boxes — what's the crack with those?

Or is it all just scaremongering? As an ex Porker owner, I know how infrequent the 'dreaded RMS failure' actually is, despite the forums.
Hi guys. I'm thinking about buying an early X5 (2001/2002) 3.0D. I'm a BMW fan. My current daily is a 2002 530D and I drift an E36 M3.
Snap! Just bought this 3.0D Sport: http://www.soloartist.co.uk/public/X5/carpark/02.jpg to tow this: http://soloartist.co.uk/public/E36M3 ...

Re: Stumped with Bluetooth retrofit

Thanks mate. I was hoping to just pop in the big silver Bluetooth box plus the aerial and have it up and running (as per the retrofit links) which should only cost me about £100 (my local breaker has the bits) as I really fancied having the phone bits on my nav screen. I have looked at maybe g ...
