EBV I believe is the electronic brake valve and is a spurious fault that can appear on an E53 and apparently can't be got rid of. Some sites suggest it's a very common fault but apart from you and me no one else on here has reported having the fault. Am still searching/reading ...

4.8iS Analog gauges problem
As per the title - the X5 gauges are playing up. Car would start normally, would drive for 2 mins and all analogue gauges would simultaneously switch off and drop to zero. Everything else works - illumination, temperature leds, obc and check control messages. If the engine is switched off for more ...

New sensor fitted and all back to normal once the fault was cleared with INPA. Word of warning - a duff sensor, which still shows voltage (but the wrong one) like mine, would not show as a duff sensor fault (Fault code 33) neither in INPA nor DIS/GT1, but you will get an implausibility ...

Agreed they can be very expensive to put right when they go wrong but theres a lot more that can be done by oneself to reduce the costs.
I did a one dayer to ZF in Dortmund to get the gearbox service done and really stretched her legs and she never missed a beat and went well.

Usually when only one corner is in the air of completely down it is the sensor.
When the compressor of valve block etc go you tend to get the whole thing stuck at one height or all flat across one/both axles etc.
That's a nice collection you have too

Re: 4.8iS Air Suspension
Quick update:
Decided to have a play with the sensors. Both arms nearly seized solid. Took them off, cleaned and greased the ball sockets. Put them back on - same error. Decided to swap sensors - now the left hand side is back to normal and the right hand side is too low. Had a look at the voltages ...

I've taken my 4.8 to BMSport (bmsport.com) in Bexleyheath for routine mechanical servicing a couple of times. They have a done a good job, but not cheap. Cant comment on their knowlegde of the electricary though.

Re: 2005 4.8iS Doesn't like going to sleep. Funny issues with CD/NAV DVD
Quick update. Went to the car this morning - the gearbox light was still on - clearly the cheeky one had not been to sleep at all. I had the CTEK plugged in, so I don't think any damage was done to the battery. Clearly I am dealing with an intermittent fault as last night at one point the car was ...
