Spent the weekend fitting new rear Pagid discs and pads to my 2004 x3 3 litre auto. On one side the originals had been badly scored by a stone or piece of grit. Thanks for the confirmation, as you suggested the size of the tyre has more depth so the overall size looks close to 18 inch.
