Re: Hot day today - aux fan kicked in when engine off
thanks, switched it out for a branded part, crossing fingers and no change. Logic had it FSR should be ok as blower was good in all settings. I am getting 5v to the compressor, aux fan works when tested with INPA, when I unplug the pressure sensor clutch kicks in for 2-3 secs then stops. So I am ...

Hot day today - aux fan kicked in when engine off
Temp near 30C round my way today, parked up, shut down as normal, nothing running. car left in full sunshine. 3 hours later my wife says something's odd with the car - I can see/hear the Aux fan running. By the time I get the keys to move it into the shade, fan has stopped. As the fan in question is ...

hi, you raise a good point, any tips on how I might investigate that aside from looking for a box under the bonnet? ta

Re: 3.0d OBC MPG way out of sync + real MPG low
thanks, I read that ACTUAL / DISPLAYED * 1000 gives me the adjustment factor so 23.3 over 34.8 is out of range so will be more in line but still out which makes me question if there is not another problem somewhere. And as you say re. V8, if I am going that low, I could nearly justify swapping out ...

3.0d OBC MPG way out of sync + real MPG low
Hi, just I drove 330 miles on a full tank, 250 miles on motorways at steady 135km/h (in France), 12 miles climbing to 800m (gentle incline) and the rest on country roads (50-70km/h), no city driving. OBC shows an impressive 34.8mpg but I know from experience this is usually way off. Refill this ...

Re: Parts - Dealer vs Ebay, pleasant surprise
good to hear then, now I'm really stumped - anyone have a technique for fitting the trims? Dry fit trim to the sensor/holder works just fine but when I try the out from outside and inner from inside, I cannot get the clips to engage - appears to need a lot of force pushing from behind. Though about ...

Parts - Dealer vs Ebay, pleasant surprise
I recently replaced a faulty parking sensor - with a £10 part sourced on ebay, works ok as far as I can tell. I noticed then that 2 of the sensor trims had gone missing. My instinct took me back to ebay, cheapest I found in UK with free delivery was £16 (listed at £18). I'm in France and >100km away ...

Re: Replacement door - paint/finish match
...You need better friends lol... yes indeed, parked right outside their house, you'd think an X5 is big enough an object for them to avoid, still all it takes is a moment of unconscious thinking... have heard that black is the easiest colour to match/less fade - mine is Titan Silver and according ...

Replacement door - paint/finish match
Hi, I have some driver door damage courtesy a friend :D Before we put it through insurance, I'm wondering if just a replacement door will do the job. If I find one in good condition, will the paint finish match nicely or does it vary according to age/wear/mileage on each vehicle? Happy to do a ...

Re: My First BMW
:o
thanks, anyone accustomed to roads round my way knows that the locals delight in crossing the white line into your path of traffic, particularly common on blind bends in areas where the tarmac is just not wide enough for two vehicles and the drop off into the ditch is ...

My First BMW
I have just purchased a 53 plate Phase 1 X5 3.0d over here in France. I was looking for a RHD anyway (as I live near mountains I actuallly prefer them as I can better negotiate ditches). Still on UK plates, 100k miles, gearbox replaced and BMW FSH, just had Inspection II totalling €700. It came with ...
