Swirl flap chattering noise
I did consider this however reading online this can have detrimental effects on low end power and fuel usage so decided not to. I have found the issue it seems though. The wiring plug to the swirl flap actuator has a poor connection as when I moved it slightly I could hear the motor operating ...

Swirl flap chattering noise
BMW X5 40d 2010. When starting from cold after about 10 seconds there is a chattering noise which can be heard from the nearside of the engine. Using a stethoscope it seems to be coming from the inlet manifold. I did look at removing the swirl flap actuator today, however it would appear that the ...

Drivetrain noise
Forgot to follow this thread up once fixed, so here we go. It was the offside wheel bearing and probably the easiest bearing I have done. Loosen hub nut, remove wheel, brake disc and calliper. Remove wheel speed sensor and unbolt the four bolts securing the hub to the knuckle. A tap with a hammer ...

Drivetrain noise
I have a had a noise from the front of the car now which has got louder. It sounds like a wheel bearing droning and now audible at slow speeds as well as high. It is speed related but not obvious which side it is from which worries me it may be the front diif. I have jacked the front up and no ...

Instrument cluster dead
Is the module under the rear fuse box?
Oddly I have noticed that although the cluster is dead, the small lcd screen in the centre appears to be permanently illuminated, but no info shown, even when car has been left for hours.

Started the car this morning and noted that nothing works on the instrument cluster. No warning lights, rev counter, speedo. Have checked all fuses and all fine. Anyone came across this before. Its an lci 40d.

Its basically the crankshaft pulley which has split into two parts where the rubber joining them has deteriorated, split then separated.

Not seen such yet. The only value kit shown is for cars with adaptive suspension. What the actual difference is I can’t see from the RealOEM data. The good book suggests you need to get the electric fan & cowl off and there’s a special tool (a long steel pin) that has to be inserted in the ten ...
