FS - F25 X3 Genuine BMW Dog Guard

As per the title - due to the dog being adopted (latest casualty in a divorce!) the dog guard I bought just 4 months ago is now for sale. Cost me around 160quid from BMW - it's a lovely bit of kit (if you can describe a metal guard in that way!) which fits beautifully using the clamps provided ...

Re: Adaptive drive

I had Adaptive Drive in my E60 550i and the thing you could tell it aside from was a big hydraulic pump in between the rear anti-roll bars. It was this which controlled the reaction to the forces acting on the vehicle during cornering. IIRC it had a big sign on it not to use it as a jacking point ...

Re: Our roads must be really rubbish

Just for the benefit of anyone searching on this again; I have been doing so for a mate on BMWLänder and trawling through the German-speaking forums for an answer. Basically, it's less about making the vehicle softer or comfy over bad roads, but it actually increases the ride height. So when the ...

Re: Looking to buy my first X5

Just sold my sparkling bronze one to Harry Irvine Fairbairn. A 2010 40d SE Dynamic with 49k on the clock and going beautifully and in immaculate condition. I think it's on their website for 26k. It's also got a fairly good sound system upgrade (done by AudioFile) in Bishops Stortford (new amp, DSP ...

Re: Best tyre pressure

Agreed. I always ran mine at the recommended pressures - 2.2bar being spot on for both axles. But I read somewhere else that people were over inflating their tyres to try and overcome some of the uneven wear attributes of the suspension setups. I'm no engineer but don't agree with this and never had ...

Re: M O T, servive and end of year warranty check.

You've probably solved this by now, but you need to go into iDrive - Vehicle Information - Vehicle Status and scroll through each of the various items in there to see what has counted down to needing to be done. In there is Oil Service, Vehicle Check, Statutory Inspecton (MOT), Front & Rear brakes ...

Re: Outstanding MPG

Good lord, that is good mpg. My pre-LCI 30d averaged 26.4mpg over its time with me. Just sub-20k miles My LCI 40d averaged 26.8mpg over 14k with me. Both very similar and arguably typical (combined cycle) driving conditions with a small skew to slightly more urban. But to see much over 30mpg, I had ...

Re: Any Ideas on below

As far as I've always been aware, Warranty Assist is what you get if you DON'T take out BMW Emergency Services cover. Warranty Assist just gets the car recovered as long as you break down more than a mile from your house whereas the Emergency Servics cover (which is a no brainer in my opinion given ...

Re: Hi! Ex-Lander and Ex-E70 owner

Ha ha! :)) Sadly that Porker is further away than it's ever been, what with the arrival of the other German tank (the 4.6t behemoth!). However, I am booked on a Porsche GT day at Silverstone on 9th of June, courtesy of my Uncle who bought a 991 TurboS recently..........only to find it was a lemon ...

Re: Headlight washers sometimes stay out

Are the pipes clean?

I failed the MOT on them NOT pushing up when a activated and turned out to be sludge in the system which was preventing pressure in the line pushing it up. But could equally be something similar in terms of it not releasing back down.  :noexpression:

Re: Rough cold start & sometimes stalls

I'm with glowplug controller. Had a very similar thing happen with my 40d with 47k on the clock. It ended up being a double-whammy of glowplug controller being goosed but in order to get to it the manifold had to be removed and was found to be completely coked up. Thankfully mondial replaced it ...

Re: BMWLand forum down?

Yup, but there was also the bit about it being "fitting and appropriate" to make a donation on the muchloved.com website too. And given that language, I imagine that's as comforting as multiple threads from multiple fora for the family. My condolences and money have already been pledged. That's not ...
