Re: 2002 3.0d auto sport

mate my advice is that the X5 3.0d's in particular don't seem to hang around too long, especially the ones in black with the right options. If the car has a full history and you are happy with the spec and test drive then take the plunge. A aftermarket warranty can de-risk the costly failure items ...

Im not 100% sure mate but i dont think the Magnatec range are suitable for bmw longlife. I think only the Castrol Edge meets this requirement.

Re: Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!

mate I would work on the assumption that any cover in the first 90 days would be a bonus. As surely if for example your turbo goes do to a part that has broken, they could simply say that part has done X miles so therefore it can be classed as wear and tear. After the 90 days I guess thats when the ...

Re: Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!

I would be very interested in their response to you mate, as with these warranty companies it sometimes is a case of, if it is not a part listed in black and white then it not covered!!!

Re: Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!

I've read some of warrantydirects literature and with regards to the 90days wear and tear clause, if a major part goes bang then cant they use the old 'well sir the part has been going for X-miles so this would be related to wear and tear'? If you do speak to then mate could you ask if they cover ...

Re: Warranty Direct £488 basic price. £328 paid in the end!

Guys I am also looking at some warrantys at the moment after the scare stories I am hearing about the Auto box and the Turbo's giving up on these cars! Does anyone know if WarrantyDirect cover the other common issues like 'Rear Subframe Bushes' and worn front suspension parts?

Re: Anyone handy with subframe bushes?

Before hitting that Buy It Now button I took it to the garage that will do the work and they said they wanted to check over the car to ensure it is infact the subframe bushes that are gone. He took the car for a test drive and the thud was present when accelerating off standstill, and also when ...

Re: E53 04-06 Front Grill and Bonnet Grills (black)

would these fit a pre-facelift?

IIRC on the E36 BMW coupes alot of people used to fit facelift grills onto the pre facelift models to freshen up the front end.

Re: Anyone handy with subframe bushes?

I think with the labour and parts it comes in at just over £400. I think the bushes are circa £40-50 each. There is a flebay seller who sells a set of 4x Febi bushes for £90-odd quid so probably go with them. If everyone else on the forum is paying similar sort of money then I guess I will bite th ...

Anyone handy with subframe bushes?

Hi All, Forum has been invaluable for me in seeing all the things that I need to put right on the X5. I had the oil service done this week and now onto the loud knocking noise at the rear! From another post the advice has been that the culprit of these symptoms:- - Loud bang when going over humps ...
