Just make sure you have cleaned all glue off the old ribbon from contacts. I used nail polish remover on cotton buds and made sure they were very clean... Just bought a 2004 x5 3.0d and absolutely love it..  i have a couple of issues to sort out and will hopefully find a lot of info on here to help...
