Re: Some warranty work before its 3rd birthday...

Many thanks for the feedback - much appreciated!  Pretty expensive, and no doubt becomes more so for future years.  Tempting to risk it, but maybe not!  :o

Re: Some warranty work before its 3rd birthday...

Good to be back!  What was that on - you sold the X5 ages ago and defected!?  What term extension makes most sense?

Re: Some warranty work before its 3rd birthday...

[quote="X5Sport"] Just had my front propshaft replaced too. Considering there has been a recall on that part since at least last Summer, you would have thought that someone would have asked the obvious question....you know the one I mean "Has anyone checked the front propshaft bearings & joints ...

Hope the pick up went well!  It's a brilliant family car - we've been chuffed to bits with ours.  Enjoy!

PS brilliant forum you 've found here - lots of very helpful advice, and a few nutters!!

Re: Anyone got a disklok security device?

I've now picked up a medium stoplock. On the M steering wheel plus pillow cover to protect the wheel the small lock gripped the wheel so the car could be steered a little (albeit the bar sticking out would have prevented anything major). As it's intended to sit loosely on the wheel, and spin ...

Re: Anyone got a disklok security device?

Definately amateurs - tried to force the lock but couldn't even do that successfully. The main concern is that apparently BMWs are still vulnerable to more skilled thieves using widely available electronic keys that will enable them to drive it off. BMW haven't solved the problem - the thieves have ...

Re: Anyone got a disklok security device?

Many thanks for the feedback - much appreciated - and the best size to get was one of my questions so good to hear the small one is good for the M steering wheel. I spoke to the supplier and they suggested possibly using a pillow case if necessary to protect the steering wheel - but sounds like may ...

Anyone got a disklok security device?

I'm looking at getting one of these disklok security devices just as a deterrent. Although I understand these are best of type, I've read they can mark / damage the steering wheel. Has anyone on here bought one and got a view on them / other recommendation? http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487 ...

Re: Some b*****d tried to steal the X5 last night!!

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm preparing for a right shocker when I speak to BMW tomorrow, and even then I'm sure they'll surprise me. I'm realistic about the effectiveness of a disklok, but given I live on a busy residential street, it may encourage a would be car thief to look to the next ...

Some b*****d tried to steal the X5 last night!!

Went to the car earlier today and found the keyhole in the door damaged, and surrounding area scratched up. They didn't get in, but the key lock is now broken i.e. if you put the key in, it just spins around. Has anyone else had this misfortune? I'm sure it will cost a small fortune to fix, but don ...

Re: 2010 40d sat nav update

Don't bother updating. I get free updates courtesy of BMW as they admit the SatNav is useless, and still is. I told the service engineer that my £100 Tom Tom is far better, to which he replied that I wasn't the first to say that, and that he couldn't disagree. Apart from that gripe, it's a great car ...

Re: Picking up tomorrow

Many congratulations - great car you have there! I'm with you on the suspension - deleted the M Sport on mine too. Also stuck with the 19s which make for a more compliant ride. Don't look as nice as yours though - but just so you know there's that option if you wanted to soften it up slightly. Also ...

Re: Unwanted Attention

So sorry to see that - gutting. I just don't get these people. Much of the time I think it's very jealous people who see a nice car they know they'll never be able to own themselves. Best paint colour too IMHO! The other week I caught a delivery truck driver off loading a massive swinging steel ...

X5 F15: Official BMW Video, or should that be Wideo?

Just seen this official BMW video of the 3rd gen X5, and I quote from Hans or Dirk or whatever he is called, "ze boss is back". Apparently. I didn't know he'd left? I don't like the front at all - looks like a right mess, just thrown together. Those fog lights look like an afterthought and it would ...
