Re: Oil pressure light
I think the tapping at idle with oil cap off is normal for the 3.0l d. Its a flap under the oil filler area.
I had oil pressure /stop engine light come on once, shut down & restart but never came on again.
Does you light still stay on after reset?

Re: E53 Aux Heater faults again
Thanks for comments.
I am planning to strip & clean as I suspect that fault is caused by flame out (for whatever reason) so smoking after wards is a result of the fan motor being shut down & locked out?

Re: Replaced glow plug control unit
My E53 has had 3 failed glow plugs for a year now, with no starting problems. It appears that engine ok with no glow plugs down to very low temps. Big job to change as need intake manifold off.

E53 Aux Heater faults again
I am a newbie to forum but have spent hours viewing above faults on my 55 plate E53 diesel heater. Read many posts about faulty PCB's, faulty resistors caused by capacitor sealing compound, etc. My 55 plate e53 will fire up but stop after 2 mins with erratic fan motor & then shut down then loads of ...

Re: Testing and Diagnosing the E53 Webasto Thermo Top C/Z
Hoppo, I'm a newbie to X drivers. Have you any contact details for French Mike. I have a 2005 E53 Webasto heater which does just what your does/did. Starts up then fan runs erratically after about 2 mins & then shuts down with loads of smoke. Get INPA fault code fan error. We always restart when ...
