Re: Service Costs help
Yea overall cost reduced significantly. Car driving much better with all the work done and seemingly all good parts used.
Really I just want to keep the full service history. Otherwise I would do all the work myself as well.

Got sorted between myself and the dealer. There were a few extra bits of work that were done and I got charges reduced thankfully.

Re: Service Costs help
Only agreed to Oil/filter change and Manifold replacement which came in around £400. I mentioned I needed to get car through MOT but did not ask for anything else. Surely I should have been contacted with other work needing done.
£45/hour is labour rate.

Re: Warranty Direct - any value?
Nope hasn't popped but keep getting thrown into "Transmission failsafe prog." Guys at Autotechnic in Belfast put on diagnostics and took an oil sample to confirm issue with box. People in Dublin will give a list of parts and labour back to Mechanic who then sorts with Warranty Direct. Fingers ...

Re: Warranty Direct - any value?
Car going in on Monday for Gearbox to be sorted under Warranty Direct all being well. Box is being lifted out in Belfast and sent to specialist in Dublin. 50% parts from my end as over 90k. Will let you know how I get on.

Re: BMW X5 e53 - Replace Rear Self-Level Air Suspension with Coil Springs
Space is tight but defo doable. Ratchet to 25 cm and get a mate to stand on the hub when firing in. Make sure metal ratchets are at the bottom to make things a bit easier.

Space is tight but if you ratchet the springs down to 25 cm or less they will squeeze in - http://www.xdrivers.co.uk/forum/https:/ ... ic.php?t=8

Re: BMW X5 e53 - Replace Rear Self-Level Air Suspension with Coil Springs
Hi Alan, I went with the eBay kit option. Ride height and comfort seem to be spot on. Unfortunately I can't advise on the OEM kit. BMW Scanner - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Scanner-1-4-0-Diagnostic-Interface-Code-Reader-Scan-Tool-E38-E39-E46-E53-E83-/390878525270?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash ...

Re: My manifold dilema with pics!!!now updated and fixed!
Anyone tackled this job recently? Cast Iron manifold seem to be the best option?
Any advice on the going rate for install? Thinking of buying the manifold from ronin1988 on eBay and asking someone to fit.
Cheers, Matt

BMW X5 e53 - Replace Rear Self-Level Air Suspension with Coil Springs
Thought I'd put together a brief guide on how I removed the rear air suspension and replaced with coil springs. I was getting the "SELFLEVEL SUSP. INACT" error on the dash and after some tinkering with sensors/compressor I thought it would be less grief to remove the air suspension. Replacement ...
