If the std bushes have a life of 100k I'm thinking no need to go overboard with harder bushes. Thanks to those really helpful responders, especially the for give some indication of time. Will be booking in soon. Not for nothing, but I don't think you'd see excessive wear in the mileage that you've ...

Re: Negative camber
Every time I see an x5 parked up I check and visually mine has more neg camber than almost all others I've seen. It chewed the inside edge of my winter tyres out in 4-5 months and they had 5 mm on when they first went on the x.

I have signs of wear on the near side front lower control arm too, should I just replace both sides? as I'm sure these are mot failures and I want to keep the ...

Re: Planning to swap X5 for...
Only a cayenne or new x5 will scratch that itch affordably for me when it's time to change, but I'm in NO hurry to change. Very happy with X factor for the foreseeable future.

Re: Heavier oil to reduce consumption ?

I'll maybe try topping up with 10w40 in future and then make an executive decision at oil service time which to stick with.
Thanks for all the helpful posts, x drivers.

Re: Heavier oil to reduce consumption ?
Thanks for the quality replies. I read in the halfords oil guide that earlier m54 engines should use 10w40 anyway, so I'm thinking when I next top up, I might mix some in.

Re: Heavier oil to reduce consumption ?
[quote="jaynana"] it's normal for these engines to burn a bit of oil, although mine doesn't.. I've had other beamers before that did. Mates with audits always talk about topping up oil. Question on heavier oil - if the cause of burn is compression using heavier oil will reduce the burn rate. [/quote ...
