Re: E70 40d M sport bumper unclipped?

I have just purchased a 2011 E70 4.0D M Sport from a BMW main dealer and have just noticed that the rear bumper is slightly raised for about 5" on the right hand off/ side and when closing the lower boot lid it catches and pushes the bumper outwards very slightly. Hadn't noticed this before as the ...

Re: Repairable?

Yes I agree regarding RFT capability. What I was concerned with was just repairing the tyre with a plug and carrying on as normal without getting the interior checked, RFT or normal tyres. Unfortunately there can be a tendency for some drivers not to get the tyre correctly checked after the repair ...

Re: Repairable?

Shoulder repairs should not be carried out - full stop, see my previous post :o. Also a tyre should NEVER be repaired without it being removed and thoroughly inspected , as without this procedure it is impossible to see if secondary damage has been caused to the interior liner of the tyre/casing ...

Re: PARKING BRAKE LED LIGHT

Thanks for your replies :) Unfortunately the car is back with the stealer at present for several issues to be resolved. But at least I have the answer as my Auto Hold has the LED's but the electronic brake only displays the (P) in the dashboard as sunnydude commented. These forums are certainly ...

PARKING BRAKE LED LIGHT

Hi all :) I have recent taken delivery of a 2011 E70 X5 4.0D M Sport. According to the handbook there should be an LED on the switch which is either Red or Green indicating whether the brake is applied or not. Mine does not show any LED indication, only in the dash display. Can anyone with the same ...

Re: What is the most you have had out of your tyres ?

Well said damian777  8). 100% correct, RFT's are a money making racket - no spare - get a puncture - have to drive on - knackered tyre - invariably need to replace both tyres on the axle  >:(.

Re: What is the most you have had out of your tyres ?

Regarding OE fitment mileages, it is well known that OE tyres usually do better than replacements due to the fact that all suspension components are new and therefore there is less movement and everything is tight and held within parameters. This also applies to trucks ;-)).

Re: What is the most you have had out of your tyres ?

Hi ex540d I have just purchased a 2011 X5 4.0D M Sport with 20" :( rims and just 29K on the clock. Tyres are Dunlop RFT's :( and have 6-7mm so are fairly new, therefore probably 1st replacement set. Will possibly fit non RFT's when the time comes as I am not a fan of RFT's :)). For supply of tyres ...

Headlights on 2011 X5

Please can somebody out there tell me if all four headlights light up on main beam on a 2011 E70 X5 4.0D M Sport LC1 fitted OE with Xenon's and LED Corona's.
Salesman says they do but I don't think that is correct. Had an X1 with xenon's and only the outer headlights ever lit up.

Re: MODS PLEASE STICKY : WARNING - BMW THEFTS - WITH FOB KEYS

Just a thought on this security issue ;). While I am now retired I was a fully trained auto electrician many moons ago and the following thought has occurred to me. To prevent vehicle thefts on vehicles with electric fuel pumps we used to fit a switch (either a simple flick one or a key operated one ...
