Re: Strange problem with E53 any more and im gona kill it!
there is one really simply and easy answer to your questions about the car being five years old and only doing 26,000 miles LOL we live in jersey channels islands UK,
I can well believe it. Munich Legends used to source a load of E30 M3s, E28 & E34 M5 and E24s from there ...

Re: Retrofitting Sat Nav
Thanks Paul,
did you go for an aftermarket kit for price reasons or is it impossible to fit the BMW unit?

Retrofitting Sat Nav
Hi all, I've just found an incredibly good 4.4i X5 for sale (2001, FBMWSH <50K miles) and at the price, it won't cost any more than a similar condition 3.0d to own / run. Only thing is, it doesn't have sat nav fitted. How easy / tricky a job is it to replace the existing CD head with a sat nav unit ...

Re: Hello from Northamptonshire
Good Luck.
I also considered manual box cars when hunting.
You state you will consider an auto 3.0d facelift but not an auto 3.0d prefacelift.........Is this down to age or other concerns ?
Age and the fact that the post facelift is 2s quicker to 60.

Re: Hello from Northamptonshire
Thanks for the welcome. I've read the buyers guide and confirmed what I wanted to know, that I don't want a 3.0i or a 4.6i, probably don't want a 4.4i (unless I found a minter for a good price) and a 3.0d offers the best option. A bit more research convinces me that I either want a 3.0d pre-facelift ...

Re: Knob on dash?
OK thanks. Do you know if it can be used as a tracker, ie to monitor if your vehicle has been stolen?
No. You'd need to buy one of their Trackstar units for that and pay an annual subscription.

Re: Knob on dash?
Thanks. Is that something you have to subscribe to or is it free?
You have to subscribe but if you've got a good SatNav like a Garmin or TomTom that can receive TMC for free (ie one that dynamically changes route depending on traffic) you don't need TrafficMaster.

Re: Knob on dash?
Thanks - what's that all about then
http://www.trafficmaster.co.uk/ Provides a constant traffic report - they're the ones that own all of the cameras in green cases you see hanging off flyover bridges and on posts on the side of major roads - they're speed detectors.
and now something else has gone wrong, this time the engine emissions warning light has come on the car sounds like a V8 and the damn thing shudders really badly on tick over. Hello from Northamptonshire
Hello all.
Just a quick introductory posting to introduce myself. {waves}
I'm looking to go back to BMW and this time go for an X5. I've joined to get some help because at my budget I'm going to have to be careful with what I buy.
