Thanks going to give pulling the fuses a go later tonight ! i have disconnected the power lead from the back of the unit and left it a couple of minutes but that didn't work !

hi yeah got the same problem with my e53 about 2 weeks ago but i havent even got my sat nav back ! started it up as normal and got the same, old style block letters on the screen and no satnav. went to the boot and tried to eject the disc to see if it might fire it back up but it wouldn't even eject ...

yeah i'm sure its the moisture freezing so quick on the rubber seals to ! had to poor warm water all over the door this morning and it opened fine. also thought about vasaline or something similiar but as you say seems a bit messy !!!!
