Re: Air con compressor not kicking in

Had a similar issue on my X5 regassed twice, new compressor and pipework, turned out to be a relay in the wheel arch, luckily covered by warranty and I was allowed to keep all the new bits. Mine started as an intermittent problem and then just stopped blowing cold air

Re: Removing Rear Airvents

Has anyone got a photo of the screws, nothing seems to come out in the centre console and I can't see what I am supposed to be undoing as the console seems one piece of plastic.

Help!

Re: Windscreen washer reservoir runs out really quickly

[quote="stevo6"] My windscreen washer reservoir runs out really quickly - just done 200 miles in two days and it's gone from full to empty. Admittedly they were grotty days, with mucky spray and a fair bit of windscreen washing required - but it was much better than this in my old X53. It's not ...

Removing Rear Airvents

I have just spent the last hour trying to remove the rear airvents but with no success, the fasteners are hidden behind the carpet that lines the transmission tunnel. Does anyone know how this comes off or is there an easier way to remove the vents. I am trying to add back the direction adjusters ...

Re: Lost speed cameras from my sat nav - any ideas??

When I upgraded the Sat Nav disk I had to do the following to get the cameras to appear: Select Navigation from the iDrive menu. Select any location in the List of Destinations Click the iDrive to display Info on Destination. Locate the UK or EU Speed cameras entries in the Travel folder Click Start ...

Have just checked mine and the lettering is ground off (from new) but there is a faint B showing. Happy to take a picture if it will help your search.

Re: Newbie and a silly question!

All fixed, after compressor/condenser and control panels changed, it all came down to a relay in a wheel arch not sure which one as this was all done under warranty and I am allowed to keep all the new bits. Got my first drive yesterday after 2 week in the garage (saved a fortune in fuel!!!) and ...

Re: Newbie and a silly question!

It broke again the day after the fix, garage are really good but busy so it won't go in until start of December to hopefully get fixed for good, am getting used to driving it like the old days with windows open and heat on the screen to stop it misting up!! Good thing the weather has stayed mild.

Re: Newbie and a silly question!

Richard, The compressor was not engaging even though all the lights were on and there were no errors. The compressor was 'reinstalled' using the software and lovely cold air started to come out. Garage thinks it might be the control unit that is at fault but we are waiting to see if it fails again ...

Re: Newbie and a silly question!

Richard, I think there is an intermittent problem with the aircon as it is not cooling properly (or at all at the moment) the fact it comes and goes associated with either heavy braking or other such event makes me think that either there is a dry joint/ failing connection or a mechanical issue ...

Re: Newbie and a silly question!

I've got the same problem again, no aircon! Noticed yesterday in the rain that my windows were steaming up and even using the screen demist couldn't get rid of it all. I have no codes so I am at a loss to what it can be where the aircon comes and goes. How does the aircon pump engage, is it belt or ...

Re: air con on all the time

Richard,
Where is the interior sensor positioned that detects that interior temperature as where I am sat it feels warmer and set on Auto the fan runs at 3/4 speed constantly whereas I would expect as the temperature approached the setting the fan speed would reduce.

Re: air con on all the time

Do you find that the aircon will 'chill' the interior of the car, just recently following a few aircon issues, mine doesn't seem to be able to get the car cold and just cooler, so the sunlight coming in the windows makes you hot, the aircon is definitely on just not very cold. It has been regassed ...
