Re: Sat nav retro fit

i wouldnt bother mate. the oem nav is rubbish compared with a £100 tomtom. it may look nice but not worth the space it takes up. there is quite a few after market ones that fit. i would source and gowith one of those if i had a choice.

Re: E53 3.0d POOR FUEL CONSUMPTION

thats a nightmare mate. we always remove these with a battery impact wrench. it may seem a bit crude but seems to be much kinder on the plugs and gives them small impacts rather than applying force until it moves or snaps. we do it on fiesta and ka spark plugs too. works every time. you are going to ...

Re: MOT Fail - Parking Brake

Being the owner of a e53 and a mot tester i know just what you mean. you never need to use it but it has to work for the mot. to be honest even when fitted with brand new discs pads and handbrake shoes they dont go much above 20% on handbrake. when you see the size of the shoes its not surprising as ...

Hi and welcome to the forum. Yes the tv can be enabled in two ways. firstly with a scanner to turn on tv in motion and secondly with a tv in motion cable from here http://www.tv-in-motion.co.uk/bmw_tv_in_motion.html mine has it enabled but to be honest its pretty useless as on digi you loose the ...

Re: Juddering when braking at 60-70mph??

replaced mine with FEBI ones. they are very high quality and made to oe standards or by the same firm as oe. we use them a lot and never have any problems. see what you can find. usually available on ebay but go either genuine/ powerflex of febi. no cheap ones its just not worth it. hope you get it ...

Re: Juddering when braking at 60-70mph??

Hi Your garage should be able to tell you if the wishbone bushes are worn and show you to confirm. changing parts on somebody's opinion can be an expensive hobby. Are you confident the garage has made a good job of fitting the discs and are there any signs of hot-spots on the discs. If rust or dirt ...

Re: Paking sensors

no need to go to the dealer, any decent garage should be able to do a code read for you on the pdc. sorry but if its a front sensor gone then the bumper has to come off but its not hard. the rear from memory can be done without removal.

Re: Offset steering wheel,any help?

taking the wheel off on many cars is a thing of the past as they now have a steering angle sensor and removing the wheel can mess things up. some also have a master spline setup and cannot be moved. as the e53 is a fairly old platform neither of these probable exist but just a warning. we always do ...

Re: Oil Filter O ring Leak

only time we ever see a problem is when the seal gets cut when is goes into the tube where the filter is. make sure when you fit it you lube it well with new oil or a bit of grease so its doesnt grip and tear on its way in. the only other thought is has the top got a crack in it that only shows up ...

Re: Auxiliary Heating (Not!)

i also went through the nightmare of no aux heater. i could get mine to fire up but not keep going. i would suggest either buying or finding somebody local with a inpa cable to do a diag on the aux heater. this will tell you where the problem lies. i ended up with new battery, new burner and glow ...
