Finally made a purchase

It's been an expensive few weeks. :(
First an MOT fail needing a new pair of rear springs. Today the car had had its third transmission/diffs/transfer box oil refresh.
Currently on 133k miles, and on the road 12 years this week.

Anxiety Day approaching..........

"Is he going to find something I've missed?" It failed. :( ......And it's something I couldn't have seen - a rear spring. Going back in Monday morning to have the new springs fitted. :) Finally got a year's ticket. :D I was going to go the whole hog and fit Bilstein B6 shocks as well, but I couldn ...

I remember that feeling. Oh well, maybe next year.

When I was in my local dealership getting the parts for the MOT repair, I noticed a Mini priced at over £50k! :o

I've now ordered a pair, and I will get the garage to fit them and re-test it. Once the springs arrive, I'll get it booked-in.

Sitting, waiting for the call telling me the test is done, I've been pondering............ The car is 12 years old next month. I think, early next year, I'm going to poly-bush the front suspension and replace the bushes on the rear with Meyle HD ones. 12-y-o rubber bushes are going to be well past ...

Just had mine MOT'd today. Dropped car off at 09:30 and started checking Gov website at 10:15 to see if all was OK. Passed with flying colours, no advisories so I can relax for another year :) Great stuff! It's very rare mine doesn't end-up like that. But with each passing year ...

It's nearly here again. :( That time of year when I leave my car at the garage and walk away, asking myself "Is he going to find something I've missed?" Still another week to go, but already the question is randomly coming to me. To be fair, I found myself agreeing with a couple of YouTubers ...

Diesel claims

I've just had yet another call from yet another claim-line. The usual patter - an Asian gentleman introducing himself with a very Anglo-Saxon name. And, as usual, he wouldn't take no for an answer. I suppose that's kind-of understandable because the company he represents will be getting a ...

Judder at low speed with steering lock

Sounds like the transfer box. Does the car have different size, and/or different make, tyres front and rear. If different size, are all 4 tyres "star-marked"?

CDs officially dead in new cars

I started using MP3 format CDs in my E30 probably 20 years ago. The Sony headunit I used in that car also had DAB capability. When I progressed to an E46 in 2013, I bought a CD changer with MP3 capability to replace the factory-fit 6-disc CDA-format changer. By that time I never bothered with radio ...
