Re: Power for a Dash-Cam

OK old topic, but who knew it was June already. Posting this in case it helps anyone in there research. I have just wired up my dashcam, a front & rear BlackVue model. Given that I was already going to be routing the coax from the front camera to the rear, I was less sensitive about finding power ...

Re: Rubbing noise

^^ What he said... Check the brake protection shields, could be a stone, particularly if the noise has just developed, but I had an issue when a (chain) tyre and exhaust fitter was changing-over my summer / winter wheels for me. They managed to drop one of the wheels off the hub onto the shield ...

Re: Anyone used spacers on winter wheels to give staggered look?

I acquired a set of 30mm H&M spacers for this very reason, but this winter never got cold enough in SE UK to warrant moving to winter wheels. I got them as I worked out they were needed to get the front and back winter wheels to run in line (177 style, all 255/55R18), otherwise the rear wheels would ...

Re: Different Fuel - Different Car

Some really informative comments here, particularly re upstream and distribution processes. ...also some hilarious BS flying around, but that's been covered! So, question for those in the know... the additive to raise cetane values that is added at source, is this proprietary to the ...

Re: Tyre's Mixed or Not

Can't argue against the playing-it-safe route, particularly to avoid potential warranty claim dispute. I believe the insurer is Allianz, behind my BMW Insured Warranty It's a shame that the only (*) marked non-RFTs are the Diamaris (AFAIK)... not that there's anything wrong with the tyre, just that ...

Re: iDrive split screen annoyance

To answer my own question... I've been playing around and it seems to be related to navi guidance If you use the "Arrow View" option in the split screen, only selectable when you're using the sat nav for guidance, it seems the CIC iDrive always defaults to "Position" in the split screen when it ...

Re: Tyre's Mixed or Not

I'm now in the market for new boots and will replace all four at once. I don't want to mix brands, wear or RFT/non-RFT. 2012 E70 m-sport running staggered 315/35R20 and 275/40R20. Interested in the debate of (*) marked or not - I know there have been loads of posts on the topic already Under my ...

Re: iDrive split screen annoyance

Hi Graeme It's a mid-2012 E70 LCI I'd had the thought it might be key memory dependent, but we only ever use one key (further thoughts below). Haha! I also have an amnesiac steering wheel. No problem with memory seats, however. Interesting idea to test the car seat memory button as a means to store ...

iDrive split screen annoyance

My iDrive (CIC) screen always reverts back to showing my global position on the RHS on a cold start. So, if i set the right side of the split screen to show Journey Computer or traffic situation map (useful) go for a drive then turn off the car and lock up, in the morning it will always revert back ...

Re: Replacing front wiper blades LCI X5

I ran into some confusion on wiper blade fit. My conclusion was that at some point during the LCI refresh the fitting was changed (not immediately, however) and not all manufacturers/retailers are aware. It depends on your build month/year. I have very recently fitted the VM331 set, with great ...

Re: Bikes on my 2008 3.0d m sport

I found the best solution for me was an all-Thule setup using their Wing Bars, adapters for the low m-sport rails on my 2012, and the OutRide 561. Found an online retailer that sold this as a package. I couldn't find a rear mount that would allow boot access easily. Also a carbon road bike means ...

Re: Recall - CAS Module

Car staying-in overnight as the "CAS campaign update" on another vehicle took 6-7 hours, apparently  :noexpression:

Sounds like this particular SW London-based service center are only just rolling these out (pure speculation), as the duration has come as a surprise
