Re: My X5 has let me down YET again - different issue (monitoring rail pressure)
Collected my X5 from the mechanics today, turned out to be a high pressure fuel pump on the engine. New tyres and MOT now required, hopefully no more surprises as I have poured a lot of money into her this year lol. Still need an injector replaced as engine is slightly lumpy and INPA is showing 1 ...

Re: My X5 has let me down YET again - different issue (monitoring rail pressure)
I dont know what the specific rail pressure figures are for your X5 Gareth but easy start will damage your engine if used frequently, sorry I cant be of more help
Thanks for the reply, yeah the X5 is off the road, I have only used easy start a few times to help diagnose the ...

Re: My X5 has let me down YET again - different issue (monitoring rail pressure)
Hi all and thanks for the reply's to date. Since my BMW scanner 1.4.0 wont let me access live data, I got INPA up and running. I have taken screenshots while idling (rail pressure is around 300mbar while idling but is @60mbar during cranking - what's normal as I assume this is way too low.) Its also ...

My X5 has let me down YET again - different issue (monitoring rail pressure)
Hi all, I have owned my 2001 3.0d X5 for nearly 5 years and has always had expensive maintenance costs but has never left me stranded until now. Unfortunately it has twice in 4 days for 2 different issues. The latest issues, it wont start, it cranks but refuses to fire. I scanned it with BMW scanner ...

Re: URGENT help needed, suspected braking issue, extremely confused
Hi all, thanks for the replies, I spent today working on it, firstly I removed the calliper, all was fitted correctly, I re-greased the sliding pins and refitted, same problem. I then disconnected the abs sensor and cleaned connection and reconnected, same problem. I rescanned with INPA and no DTC's ...

Re: URGENT help needed, suspected braking issue, extremely confused
That caliper obviously needs a closer look to make sure everything is properly done up. It could even be loose!
Its not loose, although your right I will pull apart tomorrow and inspect. It has me puzzled as below 5 mph its not too bad, above 5mph its violent, its as if ...

Re: URGENT help needed, suspected braking issue, extremely confused
Thanks for the reply, The senor is fitted in the passenger side and does occasionally flag the check brake linings fault which I doubt is related. (this has been happening since passenger wheel bearing changed) I have lifted both front wheels off the ground and there is no obviously wheel bearing ...

Re: X5 door handle Carrier
I replaced mine last week, £82 all in from BMW, took about an hour to fit and works perfect. I also thought about buying cheap but the horror stories I read, it didn't justify the effort.
Very easy to fit, just take your time

Wipers suddenly stop working
Hi all, on a few occasions my wipers have suddenly stopped working in heavy rain , last time was Friday past in a thunder storm with three kids in the back and a screaming wife shouting STOP STOP STOP (put politely), not so easy when you cant see at 70mph lol. Sometimes they can restart in a ...

Re: which one would you opt for
Hi, I have owned my 3.0d E53 for over 3 years and love it, I have recently been thinking about changing next year and to be honest its a really tough decision selling my X5 as is the only car I have kept this long and love it to bits. The only things I have had to my 3.0d other than normal ...
