Re: Return to X5 after 6 week hiatus
I certainly have a more intimate relationship with the car now I've seen it's insides like this.

Re: 2 months of ownership and loving it!
Is this Pre/Post LCI?
I replaced my grills on my pre-LCI with matt black and they were a terrible fit which made it near impossible to open the bonnet. I'd suggest you either take time to source good after markets or consider spraying/plasti-dipping BMW grills!

Re: Return to X5 after 6 week hiatus
Main timing chain guide went, car sounded like a rickety diesel! It had done 107K. Ended up replacing the chain, the 3 guides/tensioners, the chain tensioner, every gasket that became available during the strip down, some o-rings, and air con belt. Also replaced the N/S arm as it was knocking. A ...

Re: E53 PDC's, I know I know
My works, intermittently, turns of its either the harness wire or the connection to my rear middle left as jiggling the wire sorts it out. It works less often when it's raining.

Re: Just for fun, so what made you / makes you want to get an X5?
My father had a few BM's in his time, and to this day states the E38 728 he had as the best he's ever had.
It was a choice between a E38, E66 and E53. I wanted a V8. Borrowed a E53 3.0D and loved it, the position, handling, etc.
13 months on, and I still appreciate how amazing the car is.

Re: Garage Time
A missing cat is not a fail, nor illegal on a car running LPG. The cats have been dead and useless since I purchased the vehicle and during the last MOT. The contents are being removed as they're continually rattling - and like the squeeling brakes I've finally given up living with it! RoShamBo - I ...

Garage Time
So, my father called today to confirm he's got available time to take the X5 in. I'm not much of a DIYer when it comes to cars.... Here's my list of issues, in priority order: Air Suspension Inactive Cats to be knocked out, boxes left in Squeeling front brakes 'Snatchy' Transmission when slowing ...

I got a replacement from euro car parts for around £36 I believe. The one i got from evay was £22 but went within a fortnight!

Re: Problems, problems!
Does it blow at all, whether air con is on or not? If not you probably need a new hedgehog, I've had to do two in 9 months of ownership - although the first replacement was an ebay special. Replacement video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKQKz3Mkl3E You'd be after an E53 Final Stage Resistor ...

Re: 4.4 misfire help ITS DRIVING ME MAD
I'll not be decatting, but I'll get the inners knocked out. I'll eventually get them replaced but as emissions tests for MOTs are done whilst running LPG it'll not be an issue for that. I drive on petrol for 1% of my time in the vehicle... that's how I'll convince myself from an environment ...

Re: 4.4 misfire help ITS DRIVING ME MAD
I am having this exact same problem, even down to the same cylinders. I've been putting it off as I don't want to buy new cats right now. Fortunately mines on LGP (which is probably half the reason for the cats going anyway) so I could just knock them out for now. Mines been like this since I've had ...
