Re: Replacing tyres by age

There seem to be various ages put out there by fast tyre fitters and manufacturers but, as already said, it’s UV that does the real damage to the tyre compounds. If you’re lucky enough to have a garage to park in, then the exposure to UV is significantly reduced. I also used a BMW dealer to store my ...

Re: BMW Car Care Products

Hi Mark,

If I’d remembered it, you could have made me an offer !

Glad to hear the wheels, although more importantly, the tyres are meeting expectations.

Have you had much ice and snow ? Not that much here but it’s reassuring to know you’ve got the grip when you need it.

All the best,

Rob.

BMW Car Care Products

I recently sold my X5 but found the car care package products that came with it when new. The car wash shampoo label has 14/14-14/18 stencilled on it, which I guess means it was produced in week 14 of 2014 and should be used, or best before, week 14 of 2018. Anyone know if these products have a ...

Re: Headlight cleaning

I had great results on my Mazda MX-5 with this stuff from Halfords. https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/shampoo-polish-wax/meguiars-plast-rx I wiped the headlamps first, although you should really wash them but I was only planning a quick test, masked the surrounding paint and then used a ...

Re: 6x glow plug error

The Disco guys have some handy pointers as it’s even worse if you snap them on a V6.

Try this for starters

Re: Aspiring X5 owner from S Yorks

After 4.5 years of X5 ownership, I’m leaving it all behind in favour of Suzuki Vitara. The X5 has been pretty trouble free but the hassle of having to negotiate the dealer network has been a real pain that’s compounded by the need for winter tyres, so I get to run the gauntlet of calls not being ret ...

Re: Torque settings for wheel nuts

Mark,

I found what purports to be a definitive answer that states 140 nm but it then goes on to quote the tyre pressures incorrectly (35 PSI) so I’d err on the cautious side and try and blag the values off a friendly dealer if they’re not in the handbook.

Cheers,

Rob.

Re: Winter/All Season tyres

Separate wheels makes it less likely that you’ll damage the alloys or tyres when they get swapped over.

The 18” rims with winter tyres perform really well and the extra tyre wall makes the ride even more compliant.

Password Change - Following Reset

I had to reset my password following the forum update but I would now like to change it to something more memorable.

I’ve looked in what I think are the obvious places such as the Use Control Panel but can’t find a “Change My Password” option.

What am I missing in my old age ?
