E53 here, van also rides level

Any update on this?  Does it sound good / all fit well etc?

Mine did just that last year, all fine one day, totally dead the next.  Although it was the original BMW battery from 2005 so I guess I can live with that

Not sure about earlier, pre-facelift models but the 05' X5 certainly doesn't have them

The last time I hooked up the caravan my light came on, guess the extra weight on the rear upset it!

Recently got some from dealer myself, can remember exact price £1.15 each or thereabouts I think

Had my car back over a week now, I can honestly say that it has NEVER been this quiet since I've owned it (almost 18 months now).  Think the diff has been quietly on it's way for some time, just a shame it didn't decide to get really noisy during the warranty period  >:(

New diff retail was £1666 + vat, my installer was very kind and let me ring and pay their trade price so saved a little but it was still £1500 + vat 

and  again.

Diff is beyond help, new one going in as unable to find one with the same ratio on the used market

Did you get this sorted? Mine started doing the drone / whooo whoo noise under power, changing tone when lifting off. Turns out the Rear Diff is goosed, now at the garage being rebuilt. Was hard to tell if it was front or rear end noise initially but dropping the seats and removing the boot floor ...

My battery died very suddenly on Monday, got the usual click click click click when trying to turn over for a few seconds then nothing. Interestingly just before it died totally it came up with "Transmission Fail Safe". New battery fitted and all is well, the battery that came out was the original ...

Great, I was going to sell it but will keep hold of it and see how it fits before I decide.

I have a pioneer double din unit that is coming out of my present vehicle which (ideally) I would like to fit as it has feeds for reverse cameras and screens plus it's Bluetooth, DAB and iPod compatible but thought there wasn't room to fit it due to heater ducts?
