Its fixed by the rear bench locks, no drilling involved. Takes 5 mins max to fit, brackets in and tighten 4 Allen bolts and the dog guard even comes with the Allen key.

service intervals
As said seems to be too big an interval, could it not have had a service in between and you don't have the paperwork? My last E53 was anything between 14-16k for servicing.

Brake pads
I've got my E70 booked in with the dealers next week for rear pads and a fluid change, £390 all in. Don't know how competitive this is but gone are the days I'd sit on the drive and swing a spanner

E90 318d/320d
I've been running a 320d 56 plate touring for the past couple of years. Great car to drive especially after jumping out of the X5. Servicing etc is very reasonable and get around 40mpg and high 40s on a run, that's with an auto box. Will be up for sale at a good price soon as its just not getting ...

Diesel will not start
Had a very similar issue with mine earlier this year, turned out to be the pre fuel pump relay behind the glove box. £10 for the relay and 10 mins to fit.

hankook vs toyo proxes.
Had the toyo's on my E53 before I sold it and also have them on my E70 now, great tyre for the price. Think I was about £650 for both front and rear on the E53 back in may. My mate runs hankooks on his E53 and has done for the past 4 years and swears by them for all round performance and wear Sent f ...

Help me decide which X5
After having an E53 with sat nav I have to say it's one of the worst sat navs I have used in a vehicle. Those prices don't seem too bad to me. I just traded in my 55 plate E53 with 42k miles 2 weeks ago and got 15k for it and the E70 I traded it for was very reasonably priced too. Sent from my ...

Had this exact problem back on February, mines turned out to be the transfer box/case. Only the dealer could fix it due to coding and the bill was £3000 and that was with discount.

Re: 2008 E70 iPod and LED question
Anyone?
Spoke to the local BMW dealer who quoted me £680 to get the ipod interface fitted in place of the 6 disc changer, surely there must be a cheaper option to getting the ipod hooked up?

2008 E70 iPod and LED question
Well I've just traded my E53 in for an 08 plate E70. It doesn't have the USB port for connecting my iPod up, it does have a 6 disc CD changer in the glove box. What is the best way to connect my iPod up? Also what bulbs/LED's are best for changing the angel eye yellow bulbs to white? Sent from my ...

Biodiesel
Yes 100% biodiesel, he also runs it in his wifes Audi A4 and his Peugeot van. The only issue he had was with his van when the temp was -18degC last winter, the bio turned like a thick oil. TBH I wouldn't want to be using it in mine!

Biodiesel
My mate has run his 2003 3.0d on biodiesel for the past 2 years with no issues to report, fills up with normal diesel every 4th fill up.

4.8is Turns Over But Wont Start (Again)
Sounds like the same issue I had, turned out to be the pre fuel pump relay which can be had from the stealers for £10 and is a 10 min job to fit, located behind the glove box.
