Re: X5M vs diesel discussion

In my opion it all depends on the vehicle you are in ... Our E70's are large, heavy chunks of metal with big wheels to fit ... It is by no means a sportive car or has sportive handling, no matter which trim we are talking about (I drive a 40d with adaptive sustpension & steering). Although it can ...

Re: New wheels for BMW X5 E70 - Advice needed
I just ordered summer tires and a set of 20" wheels. I really wanted to try Vredestion Ultrac Vorti as the reviews are amazing, but the closest size is 285/35/20 and that is just too short (IMO). So, I went with Vredestein Sessantas in a staggered setup (315/35/20 + 275/40/20). I ...

Re: New wheels for BMW X5 E70 - Advice needed

Currently also looking into a new set of rears. I have had 55.000 kms in total, and I am guessing I drove about 70% of these kms on the summertires ... approx. 40.000 km. My rears look fine from the outside, but on the inside there is no thread left on them at all. I am hesitating to replace them ...

Re: would you like more MPG on the E70

Mine is a 40d on 20" jetsers (275 front/315 rear). I have been driving for 500 km over the weekend in Belgium and the Netherlands, mostly highways (90%), driving while using the dynamic CC set at max permitted speeds (mostly 120 km/h). I managed to average at 8.7 l/100km which is around 32.5 ...

Sorry but the extra turbo is definitely worth that little extra cash
Serious Grin Factor with twin, two-stage turbo system. :D :D :D :D  :driving:
Same here with my X5 40d ... although I still feel it could use some more especially around ...

Re: Economy Guage

Mine is in l/100km ... and if I even dare to look at the right pedal, the needle smashes straight into the rightmost area :)
So .. +1 for a temp gauge !

Re: Winter Tyres & Rims

I come from the same staggered setup : 275/40R20 & 315/35R20 and am now running on 4 255/55R19 as recommended by BMW. It does look a bit odd on the rear where it is a bit empty compared to the 315 ... but otherwise it is a perfect combo ... I have heard from people putting spacers in place for the ...

Re: Winter Tyres & Rims

I would be carefull with the above setup though ! a 295/40 has a 2% difference in circumference with the fronts. Our cars being basically permanent 4x4's, I am not too sure what the effect will be ....

Re: X6 wheels to X5

From what I have heard and read, there is a small rig which needs to be bored out in order to make the wheels fit. You will probably have to do it by yourself since no dealer nor tiredealer will take responsibility, but all who did this adaptation seem to say it is a no-brainer ... I can't remember ...

Re: X5 xDrive40D full economy

I did a little economy run this morning using the dynamic cruise control, slow starts, engine braking etc etc and managed to get as low as 31 mpg. If I were 70, this would be a viable way to drive, but then again I would have bought a Kia :)

Re: Winter Tyres & Rims

I just ordered my wheels .... I finally fell for a new set of 19" Style 177 wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow's with 255/50R19 107V rubber on :) All 4 rims have an ET of 48 though, so it might look a bit weird in the rear, but this a BMW winter recommendation apparently .... Over here are some ...
