Re: Diesel smell from cold

HI, You might want to check filters, the service records might help. Air filter and crankcase breather are prime suspects (about an hours work) but also the diesel filter might help. According to my service records (BMW agents) air filter was changed at 12K only and not again until I did it at 130K ...

Re: Pressure washing the engine bay?

I steamed cleaned the Volvo engine and bodywork, would nt want to risk the jet wash though.
The nooks and crannies on the body came up great with the steamer.

Re: Diesel fuel filter
Excellent just what I wanted to hear! The X5 has had in the past couple months gearbox oil & filter changed, engine oil & filter changed, also the airfilter and camshaft breather filter. So the fuel filter is the last filter to be changed! 8)
...... Pollen Filter ? :-[ B X5

Re: Diesel fuel filter
Did you use the diesel from the old filter? :-[
No, I wasn't sure which was the 'dirty' side so used a can of new stuff. I have a can of dirty diesel for cleaning so drained the old one in there., One or two of the 'old codgers', I mean experts, on here might be able to ...

How do you top up the new one?  :-[

Re: Diesel fuel filter
Brilliant! 8) Once filter has been changed does it need bleeding etc? If so how is this done? :-[
I had air in the see-thru pipe (nearest in picture) but it cleared immediately when it was started up. I also topped up the new one with diesel when I fitted it. B X5

Re: 2006 X5 Air-Con not working

So . . . I guess the fan is not working at all ? Clear Screen working ? I had no air con / blower for months until I 'found' this device tucked in behind the blower unit. I got the info on this website and deduced that was the problem so changed it out and all OK. Air con kicks in on Auto and ...

Re: 2006 X5 Air-Con not working
Also the auxilliary fan doesn't start with the air con button pushed. There's no cold air either whilst driving or stationary, if the aux fan was not working would that prevent the air con from engaging similarly if the refrigerant gas pressure was low could that stop the aux fan ...

Re: smoke

Mine was smoking when it was tanked until a few weeks ago. I noticed in the service records it appeared as if the air filter had not been changed ( which is a PITA, as we say) for a very long time (BMW service by Sytners Nottingham to boot !) Changed the filter and seemed to cure it. Also, the ...
