Reliability of the N57 3.0 Diesels compared to the M57.
Hi we have had our current E70 X5 M57 30d just over 6 years and we are thinking of buying a later F15, probably a 40d. Current car is on 185k and it’s been very reliable apart from a few common issues that I sorted. In comparison how reliable is the later N57’s and how common are the rear timing cha ...

Re: Drivers door not opening
I managed to open it, uncliped the inner handle cable from the actuator and pushed the actuator arm down hard with a screwdriver.
It released and so far is working ok, let's see how long it lasts.

Re: Drivers door not opening
Had the same problem last year. Had to remove the door card and bust the latch and replace it. Pain in the ass of a job but managed it.
Thanks for your reply, I loosened off the top section of the inner door trim tonight so I can now get to the back of the lock. When you ...

Re: Drivers door not opening
It won't operate the central locking on drivers door but should be able to turn the lock manually.but if the other doors are unlocking you have probably turned it enough.
It doesn't lift the black plastic pin on the top of the door car, if you pull the inside door handle the ...

X3 2.0D performance compared to E70 3.0D
We currently have a e70 X5 3.0D and may go for a slightly smaller car, just wondered how a X3 2.0D will go in comparison. It would be a post 2014 facelift with the later engine if we did buy one.

Try the emeregency key in the lock see if it will unlock manually (its inside the fob as you probably know )
I tried the emergency key, it activates the central locking on the other doors but nothing on the drivers.

Drivers door not opening
Hi, the drivers side door stopped opening today so the wife had to get out the passenger side.
You can't open it from either the inside or the outside handle.
Just wondered if anyone had any advice before I try and remove the inner door trim.
Thanks in advance.

Re: E70 4.0d 2012 parkng sensor issues
I used a C110 scanner on our 08 E70 and it listed the rear sensor that was at fault.
I don't know if a C110 will work on a LCI 12 plate though.

Soft close boot issue.
Hi guys, had our X5 just under 5 years now, for a while the soft close mechanism has been playing up on the boot but it's getting worse now. The boot goes on the latch but then after the soft close mechanism pulls it in it pushes it back out a few times and then usually leaves it in the out position ...

Any gone from a X5 E70 to the smaller X3 F25, are they good cars?
Hi, are 08 3.0d E70 X5 is getting near 170k and even though the engine and box is great the rest of the car is starting to show its age. Our boys are now in normal booster seats so the smaller X3 is probably the way to go. We would probably buy the later 14 plate on facelift, are the Msport cars a ...

Door won't stay shut when the locks frozen.
Hi guys had this issue last year in the cold and it's back again, I think the passenger door lock or mechanism is freezing up and when you open the door the lock stays latched in the open position so it won't close. Any idea where I may be able to spray some lube to try and get the moisture out that ...
I had a similar issue shortly after i got my 40D. I initially though it was warped discs. But after some heavy sharp braking it seemed to clear and hasnt re-appeared since... Steering bobble when braking at speed.
Hi guys, just wondered if anyone has had an issue with steering wheel wobble when braking from speed?. Tracking is fine. Track control arms were done around 2 years ago using genuine Lemforder and Meyle for the fronts, had them checked on a bobble ramp and they still look ok. Front discs and pads ...
