Re: This has got me seriously thinking-should i sell or keep the E53 X5 ???

Hello. As long as you service your car regularly why not get AA Breakdown Repair, if you get it first time off top cashback you save 70 quid. My first year cost me about 160 with cashback, I bought my X5 very cheap back then only £5000 . I made two back to back claims within days of each other for ...

Re: Castrol Edge Titanium FST 5W-30 LL

Ok I contacted Castrol's Technical Support Division, they replied as follows: The new Titanium formulation EDGE 5W-30 LL does not meet the latest BMW approvals which is why we suggest the EDGE 0W-30 as that does. However, if your car is pre 2014, then you can use the EDGE 5W-30 LL with no issues if ...

Castrol Edge Titanium FST 5W-30 LL

Hello. I used to purchase Castrol Edge 5W-30 oil for my 3.0d however that oil is discontinued. I then purchased the nearest replacement to it which is Castrol Edge Titanium FST 5W-30 LL, which dose not specifically state BMW LL-04 but mentions the following ACEA C3,MB-Approval 229.31,MB-Approval 229 ...

Re: UK Clutch Change (2001 e53 3.0l petrol) £££?

Hello. Not checked the validity of the link but found this: https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/luk/971938 Says £200 for flywheel and clutch says E53 3.0i From internet research seems like its a 4-5hr job according to what I have read. Maybe an idea to ask a gearbox specialist that reconditions gearboxes ...

Hello. I have sent two key fobs to the following place they are on ebay. I have been using one for about 2 years after they repaired it for me and its working fine was about £18 and some postage charge. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E38-E39-E46-E53-E61-E90-Remote-Key-Repair-Service-Faulty-Fix- ...

Re: The LURCH

Hello. I was researching this while I had gearbox issues, which were due to mechatronics sleave leak. This was a known issue, this caused issues for the gearbox as it gradually looses oil unless the leak is obvious you would not notice it. Hence zf themselves supply a new upgraded sleeve with their ...

20" low profile Alloys/Tyres but spare is only 17" can the car be driven?

Hello. Unfortunately one of my rear X5 315/35/r20 tyres has a screw stuck in the sidewall, my spare is only a 17" alloy I believe may be tyre size like 235/65 R17. Without sounding ignorant I was wondering if I could use that spare for short journeys until I source what is going to be two new tyres ...

Re: AA To The Rescue - Air Suspension and Crank Pulley Damper

Hello. That is odd Raj as they pay max of £500 per claim so not sure why they would refuse on Engine Size, can appreciate age of car and mileage being factors. RAC have introduced a cover Garage Parts and Labour to compete with AA 750 per claim no excess and up to 5 claims but not sure how well they ...

AA To The Rescue - Air Suspension and Crank Pulley Damper

I was with the RAC for abour 10 years, but since purchasing the X5 two years ago I decided to purchase AA with Breakdown Repair Cover (BRC), i think it may have been about £170 with a deal off topcashback. It states 5 claims of upto £500 in event of breakdown. I had also purchased later an a ...

Re: Manchester (South) BREAKERS

Hello. Dont know X5 breakers in Manchester. A search on online breakers/ part search is quite good though I recently sourced a door for a car not an X5 using such a search for a damaged car which the garage could not source locally. I also managed to get the price down. Using online sources can save ...

Re: Webasto T100 remote compatible T80 Unit

Hello. I dont think the temperature feature will work as that requires an additonal temperature sensor, however if you look at the following link: http://butlertechnik.com/download/6u/Webasto_Telestart_T91_T100_HTM_Installation_Instructions.pdf It appears that the T91 and T100 recievers are nearly ...
