Re: Select sport on a auto..... what actually or should happen?
Does anyone ever use manual mode? I can not take to using it
when climbing up a steep hill i found mine would constantly up and down change as the car wasnt sure which gear to be in,
slipping it into manual just kept one gear selected for a smoother drive.
similar going downhill, it let you have a ...

Re: Aux Water Pump
do you have a webasto auxiliary heater in your car?
i was under the impression the aux water pump was there to circulate the hot water from that.
perhaps the aux heater needs to be running to operate the pump.

Re: Reverse camera
my van came with a very cheap looking wireless reversing cam setup. the monitor is built into a rear view mirror that clips over your existing mirror.
it works perfectly well, not hd quality of course! but more than adequate for reversing into tight spaces.

Re: Door handle kaput
from my experience, the tolerances of the carrier are so tight that the cheaper ebay item didnt work for me more than a few weeks before the problem started reoccurring.
i ended up buying a genuine part from bmw and had no further problems.
i'm usually all for cheaper parts, but in this case i ...

Re: Accessing blower through bulkhead
i think its a dashboard out job to get to the motor.
where the hedgehog sits, its possible to get a screwdriver in and spin the blower blades to see if its seized.

Quite often, when doing down a steep hill, having taken my foot off the accelerator, the brakes will be applied and the engine will rev to approx 4000 RPM. Someone has said that this is a "feature" akin to pre-emptive braking but to me it seems like problem as it doesn't ...

Re: Range 620
620 miles roughly equates to 999 kilometers,
i think the trip computer can only store 3 digits hence 999km or 620m is the max that can be shown even though the computer knows the actual range is higher.

Hi Henry,
the present GearBox has done 187k miles & I believe is the original unit.
It works fine - most of the time, but when cold, I have to either pull away in 2nd in manual mode, or be VERY gently, as she will change up from 1st to 2nd with the most amazing BANG ...

Re: Tyre recommendations
i recommend diamaris.
ive had star and non star mixed on mine without issue in 8 years of ownership.
i would say keep the tread depth nearly equal across the axle, but it didnt seam to matter if the tread was vastly different front to back.
i got 40k miles out of a set of fronts!!

Evening all
just a question, looks like the standard spare wheel is a 17” with a Michelin tyre on.
I keep reading threads about mixed tyres and affecting the boxes and gearbox etc
so. i take it . its safe to use this 17” wheel as a spare when required if you have a puncture but ...

Re: Why winter tyres here
i always ran my x on michelin diamaris and never had a problem in the rare snow or ice that came my way. i always got through. obvously with a gentler touch on the brakes and throttle to suit the conditions.
