Re: Tyre choice ?

I'm on my second set of Michelin Latitude Sport 3s on my e70 40d. Really like them - 20k miles out of a set, way better ride than rfts and grip well Ben in winter - didn't bother with the winters last year.

Re: Windscreen washer reservoir runs out really quickly
Think the reservoir is 7 litres on e53 and 5 litres on e70
6L on both my E70s (it's on the cap). Dealer put wrong mix in when servicing the car in November and everything froze up a couple of weeks ago. When it all defrosted I a) got the dealer to replace the fuse for the ...

Re: Finally Found my X5!! My First

The best thing you can do for the ride is to stick (as you intend) with 19" wheels and stick non-runflats on them - despite the current generation of RFTs being a great improvement on the earlier versions. My 40d - identical to yours - rides better on RFTs than my pre-LCI 30D SE did but non-RFTs ...

Re: Anybody tried EcoTune in Glasgow for a remap?
They re mapped my E70 and i had no complaints, the owner was running the same car at the time E70 30sD so he knew his way around the BMW,i'd certainly use them again. Excellent - thanks! That was after me bitching at BMW service about why these cars don't have physical dipsticks and them just shrugging at me…

Re: Playback from USB stick
Plug it into the USB port in the centre console and look for 'External Devices' in the CD menu. The glovebox one should work too though that's normally for copying the data to the hard drive. You can also stream via Bluetooth from a phone/iPod Richard
Hi Richard - tried ...

Playback from USB stick

'11 E70 40D: Can't find a previous reference to this, but am sure it's a common need: having had my iPod stolen from the car, I'd rather play back audio from a memory stick plugged into the slot in the glove compartment. I can find out how to import files from it to the car's hard drive (shows 12 ...

Re: Engine Oil Level too high

Had exactly that on my '11 40D - I see references to a physical dipstick. Didn't know there was one on these cars - where is it?

Thanks…

Re: E70 self-level suspension questions

I switched from a pre-LCI 30D SE to our current 40D M Sport in September: in the three years we had the 30D, I think I heard the suspension compressor come on about three times, total. The 40d is another matter - most times I've been running around locally (farm tracks and single track roads ...

Re: Thinking of buying X5 40D

I've just finalised my purchase of a low mileage xDrive 40D M Sport to replace my late '07 30D SE. On the latter, we've been getting a reliable 33-35mpg over the last 20,000 miles since remapping it with Ecotune map via an iflash unit. Now, in theory, the 40D should (given similar and pretty ...
