Is a gearbox software reset possible as a DIY job (I know you can sometimes do these sort of things by various combinations of actions) or is this a job for the stealers?

A good suggestion ....but the car will still allow me to engage D or R from P and drive off with both drivers door open and seat belt unfastened.

Two weeks into our new ownership of a 2008 E70 M Sport, our first X5, we seem to be experiencing occassional problems selecting D or R from park. The car first selects D or R as applicable but then immediately jumps back into P by itself before moving. Car has only done it 3 times so far. We know ...
