Re: Hang on back Bike Rack

Have you considered a flange mount type? Witter is one company who make these. The mount is fitted between the tow bar and the bolt on ball so that you can still tow a trailer with the bikes on the rack. The rack is fitted to and removed quickly from the mounting bracket. I would have preferred this ...

Re: Wheel alignment

Had the same sort of wear except on the driver side and had four wheel alignment done. Then when having some electrical work done at a local indie he mentioned that my rear sub frame bushes needed replacing. I explained that the wheel alignment had just been done and he said it was a waste of money ...

Re: HELP ! Keys stopped working !

Does your central locking button on the central console work? Do the interior lights work? My keys stopped working almost as soon as I bought my X5 and I could only open the door with the key in the lock. Also the interior lights stopped working. Fixed today with a new General Body Module. Still, my ...

Re: Battery Charge
Around a month for mine too. Sometimes less. I've come back from a couple of weeks holiday before to find the car would not start without help. Dealers recharge their showroom vehicles at least monthly too. Richard
Thanks for the info. That's what worries me. Getting back ...

Re: Battery Charge

The problem with my X5 is similar in that the battery goes completely flat within three weeks. As I have other means of transport it does not get used very often but because the battery is usually flat when I want to use it I have no confidence in taking it somewhere in case the battery has not ...

Re: Navigation...is it worth it?
When I was looking for an x5 I ideally wanted one with the OE factory nav like yourself. In the end I bought a late facelift without the nav, just standard business headunit, mainly due to its condition, mileage and stamped service history. I'm currently looking into getting an ...

Re: Load cover

I cannot guarantee that would fit but that looks very much like the one fitted to my car.

It drops into the slots at each side and although obviously not the correct size seem to work well enough.

Re: Brake sensors - ebay

I have exactly the same problem and also bought some ebay replacements that have not fixed it. The ones I removed appeared OK so I am not sure if that is the problem. I did read somewhere where someone cut the cable (very) short and soldered the ends of the wires together so that they never needed ...

Re: Retractable load area cover

My X5 appears to be a pre-facelift (2003?) and has the track for the earlier cover but I have the later roller blind type fitted. When I bought the car it was advertised as having a load cover but did not have one fitted. I got the dealer to supply one in the deal and when I collected the car it was ...

Re: X5 just failed MOT due to handbrake being non existent!

Well, the "fix" would depend on the cause of the problem. It could be a broken cable or a seized cable. When were the handbrake shoes last checked? It is easy to rely on the pad wear indicators and forget that the handbrake relies on separate shoes. I bought one car where the linings had broken free ...

Don't want to hi-jack this thread, but what is the difference between one of these and the generic type?

I have a simple OBDII scanner already. Do these do more?

EXPENSIVE MORNING

Came out of the house this morning intending to take the Mrs to work and then on down to dealer to have whatever needs coding/resetting to get the remote locking of the keys and interior lights working again. Guessing that it would probably cost around £40. Put key in lock and only driver's door ...

Re: Wheel alignment - rapid tyre wear

I had hoped that all the bushes were O.K. as the car had a new MOT and no advisory (other than rusty front brake pipes!) but will have a look at them at some time. When I checked the rear tyre pressures it was early morning and it was cool so thought I would check in the evening when the sun had ...
