Re: Moving On

Hi guys I've been lurking in the background reading your leaf posts with great interest. I wasn't planning to replace the wife's golf gti just yet and would never had even considered an electric Datsun. The more I read the more It became apparent the leaf was a sensible 2nd car and just too cheap a ...

Recently fitted a set of these from tyremen complete with wintrac xtreme S XL http://www.tyremen.co.uk/product/72035/19-kd008--bmw---x5-2007-(e70) Just back from a trip to the Alps, spent 12 hours driving through heavy snow yesterday. I was very impressed with their performance, they provided ...

Re: transmission thump...funny thing has happened???!

Hi Guys, I've got a 2011 e70 8 speed with 25k on the clock would you recommend a gearbox oil change now? I've got a slight delay changing down from 2nd to 1st and when 1st is engaged a very slight thump - not Silky smooth as other changes anyway....

Re: Auto Box Malfunction ??

Hi Chris I experienced the same issue in my 8spd e70 and reset the gearbox using the procedure below which helped a lot. I still have a slight delay, less in sport mode. Worth a go if you haven't sorted the issue already. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=411543 Over time the ECU in ...

Re: Slight jolt engaging 1st - Auto box fault or perfectly normal?

Congratulations Martin! Hope all is going well for you and the family, our 2nd was much easier than the 1st - hope that's the case for you too.
X5 makes for excellent family transport, feels very safe and secure, wished Id bought one earlier.
Best regards Tristan

Re: Slight jolt engaging 1st - Auto box fault or perfectly normal?

Yes I think you're right, the delay is engaging 2nd not 1st. Have you / are considering remapping your 40d? I'm thinking this could make the power delivery smoother as the delay I'm told is reduced

Re: Slight jolt engaging 1st - Auto box fault or perfectly normal?

Hi Richard, that's given me a thought - I'll try doing the same in sport mode and see what happens. Most common case this can occur is at the approach to a roundabout when almost coming to a stop then pulling away quickly. It's only a slightly jolt in the power delivery but I'm concerned I should ...

Slight jolt engaging 1st - Auto box fault or perfectly normal?

Evening Guys. Wondered if anyone else has experienced the same with their 8 speed e70.... If I'm slowing down to a near stop and then accelerate reasonably hard the auto box seems to delay the engage of gear (probably only a second) and then when it does engage it jolts slightly. Perfectly smooth ...

[quote="535dboy"] Congrats The ride on the X5 did infuriate me sometimes but other times it wasn't as bad as I thought. Even my old man who is normally so quick to criticise my cars said it was ok!! I also don't think you will notice a real drop in performance in the real world. Have you told us the ...
