It can't be the tyres as they are proper Bridgestone runflats on the same tread depth, but i've noticed a small oil leak underneath, could that be the transfer box oil leaking out.
So maybe if i get BMW or a garage to do a transfer box oil change that could fix it?
Thanks

Steering problem.
Hi, I have a 2010 LCI 4.0 diesel SE on 90,000 miles.
I have a weird issue with the steering, when its on full lock or quite close to it, the front wheels tend to shudder and it feels like one of the wheels isn't pointing exactly where it should be.
The car doesn't have any other problems and ...

Re: Strange electrical problem, help needed. - Now sorted.
Just for anyone who starts getting weird problems with the electrical systems on the car, I've finally found the fault and everything now works.
So after i checked the fuses and then replaced the battery which made no difference, I looked for any fault codes, that was a positive step as there were ...

Re: Strange electrical problem, help needed.
Thanks for your help, unfortunately i found no sign of water at the bottom of the boot or anything corroded.
Still no joy, i'll have to book it in the BMW soon to repair the fault.
I've Googled the issue but can't find anything which points to the problem, I thought maybe a faulty
module, but i ...

Re: Strange electrical problem, help needed.
Ok, i've replaced the battery with a like for like battery and coded it.
The fault still exists!!!!
So the things which don't work are -
Tailgate
Air con
Glove compartment.
Front & Rear windscreen washers.
The fault seems to be getting worse as these don't work now most of the time.

Hi,
Hi have a 2010 4.0D LCI X5 SE with a strange electrical problem.
Occasionally the Glovebox, Rear tailgate, Aircon (cold air stops coming out, everything else works) and windscreen washers (both front and rear) stops working, all at the same time,

Re: E70 4.8 or 3.0 petrol ?
I've had a 4.8i and now I've got a 3.0 diesel 4.0 LCI and although I loved the 4.8 the running cost was very high, petrol and car tax.
The X5 I've got now I think is just as fast, used half the diesel and half the car tax.
But like you I do prefer petrol cars as I hate the dpf and how you can clog ...

Re: High mileage and the M57 engine - twin turbo
My understanding is the N47 2.0 4 pot engine timing chain failure is very common, and BMW are keeping it quiet.
The N57 has alot lower failures, there are a few examples on the web, overall a reliable engine
The M57 is a different engine and my understanding is it doesn't have the same design ...

Re: Anyone in Derby/Notts area with 20” wheels? - Need a favour.
I live in Grantham, and I have the 20' staggered wheels. on my 2010 4.0D LCI.
I'm currently working away, back home in around 2 weeks.
I've got a long drive so no problem with space. Plus the A1 motorway is just down the road to get you to 80mph.
Let me know if your interested?

Very nice and the wheels work very well
I’m sure I stumbled across a pair & the believe we’re they only fitted the SE models due to none staggered fitment
How wrong was that believe - An opportunity missed!

Re: White smoke on hard acceleration
No hasn't had a remap.
The car has full BMW service history, and apart from a replacement air con compressor, just normal services carried out.
Might be a sticking injector??

Re: White smoke on hard acceleration
I'm not sure it's anything to do with the DPF, I have Carly app and Bluetooth OBD device connected sometimes and I did a DPF Regen the journey before.
The Carly app shows the ash and soot levels are typical of a car which has done 87000 miles.
Plus the smoke was not blue or black, but very white.

White smoke on hard acceleration
Hi,
I have a 2010 4.0d, and last week when accelerating hard onto a motorway I saw a huge amount of white smoke, I immediately stopped accelerating and the smoke disappeared.
No warnings on the dash, nothing, the car drove normal.
Now, I had not driven the car for a few weeks before then as I've ...

Re: 4.0d Steering Wheel Vibration at idle
Thanks for the replies.
The car doesn't have lane assist. Plus it drives and idles fine.
The car doesn't have any problems in driving or when stationary, but the steering wheel vibrates on idle.
I've read that on some X5's 4.8 V8 owners have had problems with the engine mounts. The car is going ...
