the x5 for me is a tow car , thats all iv got it for , that and a daily , as much as i love it id be just as happy buying a passat to tow with , and wouldnt have to worry about a gearbox issue just the injector fault which is a recall item anyway

i hate these topics lol , every time i forget about the possible gearbox issue, you guys pop up a post quoting 2-5k+repair bills , i think il be getting rid of my x5 before the 95k mark (would say 99k but they are just a bit harder to sell when near the 100k mark!)

i could be wrong , but we have a center diff inside the transfer box , thus doing the same job , its like old landys ect that dont

in theory lol , im not sure if this is still the case but im sure Michigan come with a extra mm of tread but on another note , cars arent as sensitive as you would think to tyres , ie if i put brand new track tyres on my race cars front axle and new road tyres on the rear , there is 2mm of tread ...

generally talking tread patterns , wont effect the transition unless its one extreme to another (IE off road tyres to dry summer tyres only) but say for example toyos summer tyre vs bridgestones summer tyre , no , that wont effect it ether you could ague summer tyres on the front axle and winter ...

i get the pre-heating up on the dash , mainly the first start of the day if its cold out side , complelty normal a guess?
