Looking for a replacment to our E53 and I'm in the market for a 7 seater E70, its to be the wifes car so I'd like to spend as little as possible, but will spend the right amount for the right car. I'd like something with less than 70k miles but obviously less as the car gets newer.

2008 ish purchase question
I'm looking to change our e53 and have a rough budget of late teens. I'm off to look at a 2008/9 e70 tomorrow that looks fair value and miles etc. It's a 3.0D m sport. My question is it worth spending a little more for a 35d twin turbo?

Re: internet woes
You saved a BT callous fee for that, they would definitely have charged you to fix it when TalkTalk finally passed it to them when they exhausted trouble shooting options.

Mine did that with an older firmware on a backup map disc. Maybe try a different disc from a trusted source.

Re: knocking noise over light bumps
I concur that drop links are most likely for your symptoms and as said, easy to do.
You'll probably end up replacing most of it though because as soon as you change a weakened part it exposes the next weak link in the chain. If you are paying someone to do it, it's probably better to get a quote to ...

Re: Seized Rear Swing Arm Bolts
2nd part is fine but the first one i'd pick a known brand like Febi.
What about the subframe bushes? I fitted MeyleHD, couldn't justify Poweflex.

Re: Seized Rear Swing Arm Bolts
The camber bushes can be bought from a Polish seller on ebay, mine came in a couple of days, Lemforder make them but they are very hard to do even with a press etc., you can buy the complete arm from BMW but its quite expensive. I think these is the least wearing bush from my car. The outers where ...

Buy new bolts, a few quid on ebay, drop the air out before you shear the old ones off changing them

Re: Battery drain,..BMW said it was starter !
I only have to add that I had flat battery issues but wasn't the starter.
TBH not sure exactly what is was but it seemed to get fixed when I sorted the supposedly unrelated occasionally rear brake light warnings and the poor radio reception so I believe bad/corroded connections causing the symptom.

Re: E53 Rear subframe bushes
Can you do the same for a 2001 5 series? I mate needs them done and the E53 tool doesn't fit.
