Thanks
I've always wanted an Estoril blue BMW and an X5 being at the top of my model list and I was so chuffed when I found this one

Re: Progress on my recently acquired Estoril blue 4.6is
In case any one is interested here's the write up I did in 2013 with a wiring diagram and where to tap into the LCM for the ring light up when unlocking and running them as DRL's (you can run any light from here this way Inc front fogs) http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,7403.msg80301.html ...

Re: Progress on my recently acquired Estoril blue 4.6is
Thanks guys
terrific job at usual , i would like the front wiper mod it looks great on the e53
Well I've carried out the modification for a few forum members at no cost and I'd happily do the same to anyone that's after this modification. Progress on my recently acquired Estoril blue 4.6is
Hi all I'm sure some may remember me from my 2 previous 4.4's and as I always had a soft spot for the E53 and had an itch for the 4.6is so I nabbed my self nice well looked after example. It had a few modification already carried out on it one being a set of 22" wheels which look nice but I'm still ...

Re: A question for the 4.6is owners
Thanks That's great to hear my ones on 110K and as I said on the oil change I carried out last week I dropped the inspection panel and it was spotless I don't know if it's an important factor but the service history on my motor is amazing showing it's had regular oil changes around every 6-7k since ...

Re: A question for the 4.6is owners
Yep I made a tool to bolt to the front of the crank where the 8 small bolts that take pulley off the front come from that has a long bar welded to it that I hook up under the chassis leg that's worked perfect every time.

Re: A question for the 4.6is owners
Thanks, I think I'll be doing it anyway for no other reason than piece of mind, Its not actually a hard job at all, I have all the locking tools it's just a long winded nut and bolt job. As I said I can knock it out in under 10hrs so if I'm locked away in the garage workshop between Christmas and ...

Re: A question for the 4.6is owners
Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the reply. A quick question about you particular failure as that seems a little different to how most report the failure as most report the rattle starts as start up one day but doesn't as normal disappear after a few seconds instead gets louder and louder until ...

A question for the 4.6is owners
Hi all, I'm back again in my third X5, my previous 2 both being the 4.4 and my latest one is the 4.6is. Now it's my understanding that the 4.4 and 4.6 run identical chain and guides but when ever you search for 4.6's for sale there's normally a low number ever for sale which is understandable as I ...

Re: Auto opening boot hooked up for £0.66p, Also went a head and painted my wheels
What size are the springs? I dont fancy paying £16 for a pair...
My second set I've fitted are about 120mm long and about 20mm wide, tension wise you can just about compress them by hand. The springs I've just fitted are actually springs from a Honda/Rover exhaust system ...

Still have to close it manually though......
Yes but your hands are free to close it once you've put in the boot what you were holding, it's opening it when your hands are full with stuff to go in the boot which is the whole point in doing it
