Re: My manifold dilema with pics!!!now updated and fixed!
A thread revival... Mine has cracked again..  Started with exhaust smell in cabin when sat in traffic. Been getting worse recently, so it looks like I need to remove it again. :( Anyway, instead of buying a new steel manifold (I`m not bothering trying to repair mine again), I`m thinking ...
with X5 being an SAV it won't make a huge difference whether you have a bull bar or not. if you get hit by an X5 you'll get hurt no matter what.
I beg to differ. Of course it`ll still hurt BUT... IF I was hit by a car that had a low speed blowout and mounted the pavement ...

Re: Bull bar install
Probably one of the most pedestrian unfriendly things you could add to a car. They spend all that money designing cars to limit the damage to people in an impact, then people fit steel tubes to the front instead.
I`m sorry, but I just don`t get them.

it COULD be the ambient conditions, but the weather didn`t really change. It wasn`t dead flat, blimey, you`d do well to find a 220+mile drive without hills ! I`ve found that over a journey of 3 hours, the MPG is a pretty decent average, it tends to balance out the hills. I know the X5 isn`t ...

Re: E53 3.0d POOR FUEL CONSUMPTION
Bit of an update. Removed the MAF, cleaned it with Carb cleaner. Decided there was nothing to lose, apart from a bit of time. Rebuilt it all, went for a long motorway drive the next day. On the onboard display, it averaged 35.2 at 75mph. Came back the next day, exactly the same route and speed and ...

Re: Leaking brake pipes
Mine failed on the way home from collection when I bought it. Lost ALL hydraulic fluid and braking. As already said, you`d be stupid to drive it knowing there was an issue with this. I ended up with new disks, pads, flexible hoses and hard pipes all round, they really did look after me. There were ...

Re: E53 3.0d POOR FUEL CONSUMPTION
Bit of a thread resurrection. My X5 has averaged between 23 and 27 for the last 2 years as its mostly local driving or towing. Without trailer, I get mid 30`s on a good run. I`ve noticed recently, thats dropped to around 20, even on a 180 mile Motorway drive, it only averaged 28 ! Usually I`m into ...
