Re: Heater blowing cold
It would appear I had a bit of a 'special' moment regarding the above problem. Someone had moved the middle vent into the cold position without me knowing so I have moved it back to hot and all is now cured and I am once again toasty warm :-[ thanks guys

Re: Heater blowing cold
Thanks for the response guys. Yes speed wise I can control it, it's just the temperature I can't, so from what Horizon has said it sounds like it could well be that! Anyway I can test it?
Nelo- did you have trouble with just temperature control or the motor speeds?
HenryM3- I will check these thanks

Heater blowing cold
So yesterday my heater had set its self to 32 degrees in the car (both sides) and I was boiling so turned it back down to 20 and all was good. Today its blowing cold air on all settings apart from if i push the windscreen defrost button then its lovely and warm. Cars running normal temp on the gauge ...

Re: Gearbox rebuild recommendations needed
I spoke to Jason today and he has said £1600-£1800 +vat depending on whats needed. I didn't ask about warranty but I'm quite happy with that mainly because of his reputation so I'm sure he would do a good job and replace whats needed and if there are any problems I guess he would sort them. X5sport, ...

Re: Gearbox rebuild recommendations needed
Thanks for that, I wasn't aware he did gearbox rebuilds, but I'll give him a shout, I could get it remapped at the same time . I did a google search for auto box specialists and rang a few best quote was £2400inc vat and worst was £3000 :'(

Gearbox rebuild recommendations needed
So I need to either get the zf auto box reconditioned in my 2004 30d e53 or trade it in against something else :( I still really love the car and its in amazing condition for the year but just not sure I can justify £2500 on it or not but at the same time cant justify 20k on a newer model x5 for the ...

Re: 5th gear gearbox stutter
Ok so I've decided to do another gearbox oil change before doing anything else. Can you guys confirm the oil I'm using is correct before I order it? It's Fuchs Titan atf4134 oil and going to add some of the Doctor tranny stuff recommended above. Thanks in advance guys.

Re: 5th gear gearbox stutter
I did the change myself 1st time round and to be honest it didn't really make much noticeable difference to anything or help to make gear changes smoother like i was hoping it would so i'm a bit reluctant to spend another £120 on it. Would it be worth just adding the dr tranny stuff to see if it ...

5th gear gearbox stutter
Driving along in slow moving traffic (35-45mph) in 5 gear I'm getting a stutter every 7-10 seconds or so, it only happens in 5th gear manual or auto mode and only when properly warmed up. I've read a few things on the net and they lead me to believe that the gearbox is on its way out! Can anyone ...

Re: Auxiliary Heater only runs for 5 minutes?
Yep it turns out you are both correct. I gave the battery a full trickle charge/condition and its fine again. I to mostly do short journeys so I guess its just not running long enough to charge the battery back up each time. Oh well at least its nothing actually wrong with it, cheers for the help.

Auxiliary Heater only runs for 5 minutes?
So I have my aux heater enabled and it has been fine for a few months, but recently after setting the timer at night I've been getting in to only a semi warm car, so tonight I monitored it and it only ran for 5 mins then switched off, I reset it and it did the same again! Can anyone shed any light ...

Re: 3.0d not getting up to temperature
Ok I will have to check that then, I didn't realise it worked with just the ignition turned on! I did the heater/pedal trick to bleed the system and thought that's what activated the pump lol. Put the heater on the hottest setting with the ignition on and have the heater fan blowing on the lowest ...

Re: 3.0d not getting up to temperature
Mmmm just read your thread and does sound like my symptoms, I know my electric pump works as I can turn it on manually with the heater/pedal trick but maybe it's not working when it should do? Next question is how the hell do I check for that? And does anyone know when it should be on, straight from ...

Re: 3.0d not getting up to temperature
I can stop the fan while the engine is running so think that's fine. It could be possible both stats are faulty but as the bmw one was fine when I removed it and now its running the same temp as the ecp one it seems highly unlikely to me. I did read something about another stat, but couldn't find ...
