Which version of idrive has it got? Latest version is 8.5 or possibly 9.0 (depends upon model year).

There’s pretty much always a way around ‘special’ tools. All you need is a bit of ingenuity - or in your case two extra hands and a large screwdriver :D

I think we can safely say that one is well….worn out (being polite).

Could well have been the root cause for your other issues too?

On our E46 the only way to change at least one of the headlight bulbs is to remove/undo and pull forward the front bumper so you can get the headlight forward enough to get into it.

Realoem suggests H7 for dip and H1 for main on vehicles without Xenon lights.

Might be worth getting the BMW Guide app as you can download the manuals against your VIN and get corrected versions.

I know when my i4 was new, the manual still showed a gear shifter, something BMW removed three months ...

In most cases it’s simple wear & tear.

Pulleys have bearings that go bad and they rumble. Some have rubber bushing that ages, gets brittle and gets noisier. Belts age and stretch, tensioners get weak.

Slow pressure build up so could be the pump isn’t working well, or there’s a fluid leak. If the level has dropped then it’s a leak. Is the belt tight or contaminated by any chance? (It’ll probably squeal a lot if it is loose though).
