Another Rear Upper Tailgate not working issue
Hi All, I just picked up the car (E70 MY13 3.0D MSport pack) from a dealer and the rear tailgate seems to have the dreaded no auto lift. THe dealer knows about it and will be fixing it. However, Im thinking I have a different problem rather than the motor gas struts. 2 Reasons: 1) They stated it ...

Re: HELP - 3L Diesel Lumpy engine caused by Air Compressor Load
Thanks for the replies: @X5Sport - Compressor is brand new. It has been checked and pressures are all good @henrym3 - Yes, no change of balancing. I put a white mark on the Harmonic Balancer as an indicator Now, what I noticed, RealOEM showed I should have had a pulley that the air compressor belt ...

Re: HELP - 3L Diesel Lumpy engine caused by Air Compressor Load
Well, to report back, the Hedgehog is not causing the lumpy running when the air is on (tested with a new one). When the air is on, I think it is putting enough load to show another problem. Although I said it was perfectly smooth, after a lot more experimentation, I am now noticing it isnt (with ...
A long shot, could it be the ''hedgehog'' ? Plenty of posts re HH. Lez
Hi Lez, You know what.... that thought has crossed my mind. I thought I knew all about the "hedgehog" until just recently, when I read hidden in some forum that it does more than just the fan control ...

HELP - 3L Diesel Lumpy engine caused by Air Compressor Load
Hi All, I really need help/suggestions. Please bare with me while I explain. Ive been having an issue ever since my harmonic balancer died in February (maybe just a coincidence). The issue is a rough, lumpy engine, loss of power, vibration at any speed (not large but something like a misfire). So ...

Re: amp draw test with current clamp-my way is floored?
Why do you keep creating new posts when you don't like peoples replies? I for one am getting fed up reading multiple new posts (both on this forum and others) about the same issue you are having. This post, you included 90% of the same text to one of your topics that someone answered 12 hours ago ...

Re: starting time of 2004 E53 3.0D AUT0
Ok, so you have done some tests... Did they fully test the alternator under different loads? Watching voltages isn't really testing the alternator. Mine is 13.2v when sitting (even after 5 days sitting, I measured it at 12.6v) and never drops below 12V when starting (then again, it does start ...

Re: 3.0d breather filter
Because the pre-facelift models have a paper element type and if it was forgotten to be changed, it ended up disintegrating which could lead to a huge repair bills.
Post Facelifted has a vortex type made of plastic and doesn't have the disintegrating issues.

Re: starting time of 2004 E53 3.0D AUT0
Mine starts straight away. I agree with TimX5 and the others. I doubt it will be the Starter Motor. Bad cranking is attributed to the battery and rated amperage supplied at cranking. The only time I had cranking like you state, the battery was on the way on the way out, and it was long until I got ...

Re: Slight ticking after oil change
Hi Leeg, Rob here again (from xoutpost). Do you want to check that you haven't pushed the plastic protector of the aux fan onto the fan. You say the tick is near the hood latch. Another question, does the ticking vary with Revs? If not, I reckon it will be something hitting one of the fans. Without ...

Re: Engine Oil question
Facelifted Diesels had the new vortex type fitted. Facelifted was from somewhere in 2004 up. I have a 2005 and it has the vortex and doesn't need changing, although some people do. If when you accelerate and you are pouring out black smoke, then you need to change the breather as a start. Valvoline ...

Re: x5 e53 fitting 20 y wheels info please soon as poss tramlining
I had 20"s and found that the 19"s tramline and the 20"s never did.
However, the 20"s for me on the back were just too wide for my liking, but they fitted 100% without modifications. My 20"s were OEM not after market.
