Re: Air Con
The aircon in the V8 is absolutely wonderful........I run mine all year round, always have done, and have not had to refill yet - my 4.8is is a 2005.
Even if the car has been left out in 31c in the sun all day? That's where mine has been having a bit of difficulty.

Re: Air Con

Well, one re-gas later and all things are cool again. The car is 6 years old so probably due. No leaks, no problems. The garage agreed that running it regularly keeps things good. Lets face it, who switches their fridge on and off I suppose?!? Also, the current temps are on the extreme side, so I ...

Re: Air Con
Do you normally run it contnuously, all year round. If not, the seals will dry out and leak gas. Once on a machine it will identify any leaks and what you'll need to do to fix it.
I run the air con at all times, both summer and winter. However, I've only owned the car ...

Re: Air Con

I've got it booked in tomorrow for a re-gas. £39.95 all in. Hopefully that solves it.

What makes me think its a leak is its only started playing up in the last couple of weeks.

If its functioning correctly, I assume I'd get air con cold straight away out of the vents after starting the system?

Air Con

...or rather the lack of it in the last few weeks! My air con has been playing up during this hot weather. It's not blowing anywhere near as cool as I think it should be. I tend to run the temp down on 16c in this weather, but seriously it's blowing hot air at me. If the car has been in the shade or ...

Re: Howdy
Ah I'd love to be able to consider a Q7 (or an E70 X5), but alas my budget won't stretch that far...I'm looking to spend about £8k, so probably going to have to be a higher mileage car around 2005. I'm only just 23 too so insurance is going to be an issue :(
Welcome to ...

Re: Anyone offer any advice on tyres

I've just put a pair of 19" Toyos on the front of my X. Cracking tyre. I've done about 400 miles on them since fitting and can't fault them. Ride is very good. Cornering also very stable. Got the pair fitted for £300 at my local ProTyre. Discussed tyre choice at length with the mechanic there and ...

Recommendation needed - Westbury area

Can anyone on here recommend a good independent garage in the Westbury (Wiltshire) area?

Needing some work doing after my Brake Linings message came up and thought I'd check out if anyone has any good recommendations.

Sounds like an absolute nightmare! Keep us updated on your progress.

I'd be pressing the incompetent idiots in Denton to help with any additional Indy costs here though...  >:D

Re: Brake Linings Warning

I've just checked back on the service history paperwork that came with the car when I bought it to help give me an idea on what may be wrong here. The car was first registered in March 2006. The front pads, discs and sensor were replaced in July 2009 at 39k. It appears the front pads were replaced ...

Brake Linings Warning

Just back from a trip and the Check Brake Linings warning message has come up. Obviously a trip to the garage will be needed. First thing to go wrong with my X so not sure whether to go through BMW or a local Indy. Not mechanically minded so not looking to attempt the replacement work myself. So, I ...

Squeaky Steering - HELP!

I'm now 2 months into my X5 experience. Still loving it, except for... ...a squeaky steering wheel >:( It's driving me mad! Slightly worse when it's colder, especially in the morning, but always there. No grinding or whining...just squeaky. Maybe also a slight and very intermittent knocking noise ...

Re: Is there a how to on removing the instrument panel?

I'd like to get this done and would probably opt for the while u wait service. Somehow I don't trust the post with such an important part of the car. I've been in touch with Rudi and will probably try and get this done in the next few weeks. One quick question for anyone who has had the pixel fading ...
