Tyres, bloody tyres

These may be the best looking wheels for an E53 X5 (I think), but sourcing new rear tyres has been a mission. 325/30/R21 are advertised as available in most places and are shown as in stock, but if you check they aren't. There's plenty of run flats, but I didn't ...

Re: 4.8is - seized front differential?!

Like hen's teeth cos they use an odd ratio and it's known the original version wasn't up to the 4.8is power output.

Mine exloded in June 2013. I searched for a second hand one and the ones I found were expensive and obviously unknown. I opted for a new warrented one from BMW. The cost was an ...

Re: Andrive AN39 for sale

If you haven't got DSP etc then it's an easy fit. You just need the remove the old head unit, thread the 5m FAKRA cable through to the back and plug it in. The new head replaces your existing CD/DVD, radio, TV tuner (it's digital freeview) bluetooth inc phone.

Cos it's a rooted Android system you ...

Andrive AN39 - now sold

Now I've got my phablet install working I no longer need my Andrive so it's for sale if anyone is interested. It's a year old, in perfect working order and I'm selling it with the 5m FAKRA cable you need to fit it to an X5. I'm also including my small harness that means you can get it working with ...

I now spoken to 3 reliable sources who have all said the original front diff fitted to the 4.8 was never up to it.

Re: PA-Soft / BMW Scanner questions.

I bought one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-BMW-Scanner-1-4-0-programmer-Never-Locking-/171253570667 It takes a while to turn up, but works fine on an old Netbook running XP. I keep this as a dedicated car 'puter.

This one doesn't need any pin bridging. It just works reading and ...

Re: The X5 is now back on the drive

The plot thickens....

After I had the new transfer box and front diff replaced, the car was good, but having put the Alpina wheels on, it drives extremely really well now. Very smooth, no jerking or juddering at all speeds under load or just cruising. It's a pleasure to drive slow or fast.

When I ...

Re: Anyone got an Andrive Headunit for their X5??

The Andrive unit is better than the stock BMW one. I had the TV/satnav/bluetooth/dsp/cd combination. The TV was useless and the satnav is 12 year old technology and rubbish even with the latest software and maps.

The Andrive unit is an improvement. It does work very well and their support is good ...

Re: Self levelling inact !!

Mine was a broken wire in the loom between the controller and the front ride height sensors. It had me beat and my local indie found and fixed it.

It's somewhere buried deep in the chassis/bodywork/bulkhead and by the sounds of it I'm not the only one.

Another self levelling inactive thread

It was intermittent for a few days and last week decided to stay on all the time. The rear nearside was cocked up in the air, both fronts were down different amounts and the the ride height button light was out with all the usual dash warnings.

A quick check with BMW Scanner showed no problems with ...

Re: Rotational Vibration under load - Any Help Appreciated

I remember years ago when I had Wolfrace wheels and Pos-a-traction tyres on my Mk3 Cortina (Starsky and Hutch-tastic)

http://i58.tinypic.com/mbmk4x.jpg

I had really bad wheel wobble and vibration even though they were perfectly balanced. There was one tyre fitting company in Coventry that ...
