Re: X5 and off road ability
AW8, at £20k that would probably be at the top of my budget, as I'd then have to consider shipping etc. But it would also be a one time only purchase so I wouldn't mind stretching myself.
Any thoughts on the long wheelbase version Vs the smaller 'Prado' version?

Re: X5 and off road ability
I have been a few times myself, hence why my contact is trying to convince me to apply for this role. It would be based in Nairobi, which is one of the largest cities in east Africa. The roads are great in the new parts, all smooth and wide, but shockingly bad in others. I've just had a look at land ...

Re: X5 and off road ability
Thanks guys, that's a resounding vote for the land cruiser. Reliability is more of concern than off road ability.
Like I mentioned, I haven't actually secured the role yet, but if I do, I'll be sad to see the X5 go.

Re: X5 and off road ability
Defender never crossed my mind. I'll look into that. How reliable are they? I have been l leaning more towards the land cruiser, as I have 2 keys and wold need a degree of comfort. The defender doesn't look comfortable, but that based on nothing more than prejudice. How comfortable/ reliable is ...

X5 and off road ability
Hi all, I'm exploring the possibility of taking a role in Kenya. I haven't actually applied yet but naturally what to do with the car sprang to mind. I hear the roads in Nairobi are much like the rest of Africa, good in the wealthy parts when they are new and terrible in all other areas. The amount ...

Re: E53 4.6is Inherits Intermittent Low Drowning Noise/Light Vibration??
Hi,
I don't know if you sorted this, but I read somewhere else on this forum that you should also check the "bearing flange" at the same time as the bearing as both are know to wear out emit noise.
I'd be interested in knowing how you get on and whether it's easy to do a DIY job.

Re: Some very strange happenings re:my misfire
Have you checked you have the correct battery and the terminals are connected properly? I was speaking to a friend at the weekend who had as 3 series convertible with unusual electric problems. He spent £500 getting it checked out including a full diagnostic from a main dealer and they couldn't work ...

I think the silver against the blue could actually look quite nice.
Look forward to seeing pics either way.

Re: Bad remap
Thanks guys, I may just give Jason a call.
I reset my gearbox today (only just found out that I can do this). The X drives much better, but still has the annoying issue.
Unfortunately I can't make the meet on the 27th as I need to do an airport run at Heathrow.
