Re: New owner ........... Turbo gone?
i know im not much help as i am in Australia, but when i looked around a couple of years ago, (i have an external oil weep from my turbo) my mechanic wanted a ludicrous price, probably sourced OEM, so i rang around independent tuners and it seem that the turbo in our cars is fairly garden variety ...

Re: Worried about gearbox failing
mate i had the oil changed in my 2005 3.0d and at the same time the dealer did a software up grade, it seemed to be good for a while and even now i only very occasionally get the "Lurch"

Re: new battery today
yep dont think i wasn't having moments of fear.
my mind started roaming through the pages of forums .
i hadn't heard any weird noises and all had been going well
so i turned it off and back on and all was good, so sticking my head in the sand i motored off to work.
thankfully 24 hours later all ...

Re: to those you have installed KMAC rear camber bushes
same driving style for me, mostly peak hour bumper to bumper crawl.
im not a big fan of nailing it off from the lights, however i do like to give it some where safe on country roads.
and 10,000km is probably to soon, but im happy with that, i sense that the motor seems, and it might be an illusion ...

Re: to those you have installed KMAC rear camber bushes
thanks Raj, i hoped you would chip in, im not sure that the bushes are failing the mechanic is thinking one of the eccentric bolts may have moved, as its less that 1 degree maybe its just settled a little. there is no clunking or noises indicating wear.

Re: Repairs are starting to depress me.. when is enough?
first owner cops the depreciation loss, second owner is the winner, third owner cops the expensive repair bills
doesnt matter if its cars, boats, or aeroplanes
buy second hand but as young as you can afford and then look after it and it will look after you

Re: Lowering
mate i think i see where we are differing, i dont consider my X5 a 4X4, while i do agree it is an ALL wheel drive, i struggle with the 4X4 notion, for me in Australia for off road, beach driving and towing a boat i use a Jeep cherokee,
probably not the best 4X4 but nun the less a vehicle with a 4X4 ...

Re: Lowering
i understand how lowered/reset coil springs lower a car, but educate me how does an air bag suspended car get lower
answer------reduced air pressure, effects of reduced air pressure = softer ride more wallowing and less load carrying capacity, simple moving a sensor position ONLY tricks the system ...

Re: Lowering
yep i can confirm that you need to do camber bushes in the rear if you dont want to chew out the inner edges of your rear tyres,
i also would be concerned with rear air suspension as lowering the rear requires lowering the pressure in the air bag, doing this will soften the rear suspension and ...
