Re: Thinking of buying X5 40D
A lot of questions, but for what I know, Sat Nav is an option, and most important the 40d is awesome.

Fuel Economy on 40d
Being a tad early for a meeting took a relaxing motorway drive:
Pretty pleased with 37mpg. Overall though, still averaging 28.5

Re: Newbie in Bristol
Very nice! I too bought new and it worked out cheaper than 2nd hand due to the interest rates. The 3rd row seats will help sell it (one day) so probably a useful extra to have. According to one dealer I spoke to, they add about a grand to the 2nd hand price. Happy motoring! B ...

Re: MPG
Under 1k miles on mine, was showing 27.4mpg until I went on a mainly motorway drive (about 180 miles) yesterday which upped it to 28.5. Not yet run in but shows its happier motorway cruising. Unsurprising since it must take a lot of juice to get it moving from a standstill.

Re: Brake Light Failure & Fog Light
I'll check that tomorrow ( one too many G&Ts), but the dealer didn't sell me the car. BMW employee scheme means you buy it from them with no dealer involvement, but I agree should last longer than 3 weeks- so hopefully get it done FOC. Will advise....

Re: Hello and Question from a Newbie - E70 3.0d or 4.0d M sport??
Good point on the runflats. 19" wheels give a gentler ride than 20" or 21" wheels. 19" wheels are standard but a lot if owners spec the 20's. I have a set of 19" & 20" and the 19's are much more comfortable a ride. Richard
18" Standard on the SE, 19" on MSport, and I find ...

Brake Light Failure & Fog Light
Picked up my new 40d E70 3 weeks ago, and already had a brake light failure! The left brake light is out and when we contacted BMW said not covered under warranty! In addition, I can't change the bulb myself as apparently it's a sealed unit and therefore we would invalidate the warranty ...

Seriously DGAF what other people think. Bought the car for performance, ability to handle this random weather, and to come off best in the unfortunate event of a collision with some of the stupid drivers out there

Standard 18" wheels. TBH 20" wheels look great, but you can't see them when you're driving, so I opted for the standard "comfort" option
